With Spurs having a back up now of getting a Uefa place via the fair play route, will that give them less desire to get 5th spot?
Hope not cos we need them to beat Birmingham IMO.
Although watching Birmingham last night on MOTD i’d give Beech Hill a chance against those lot!
16 May 2011 at 3:34 pm #65756Two things – firstly they’re not guaranteed the place – Fulham and Blackpool are still incontention.
And each Premier League place is worth about £800,000.

Consider this. The article states they are currently in pole position in the Fair play league.
With Scousers on their tails i’m sure Harry Redknapp and Mr Levy, thinking of revenue gained from Europe, may tell players, at no costs, to pick up any yellow cards etc , therefore meaning a possible lack of effort.
They may lose £800,000 in losing one place but they are set to lose a lot more if they lose the game against Birmingham and in the competetive process pick up unwanted disciplinary’s. Even though the Europa league is second best to Champions league, it can still be a money spinner.
Granted, if they win it doesn’t matter, they keep 5th spot and reach the Uefa, but just makes you think if they start off poorly , how much effort will they expend, knowing of their safety clause?
16 May 2011 at 5:29 pm #65775Tottenham have not won in their last 4 home games.
For a club of their size, id be surprised to see them go 5 without a win at WHL.

:D Remind me again on the stats relating to Wigan winning two games in a row in the last two seasons…………
Here’s hoping the form book gets thrown out of the window!
16 May 2011 at 7:33 pm #65794Fulham are top with 50 points, Blackpool second with 52 and Spurs turd with 57. Wigan sit 16th !

Discount everything i just said then.
Spurs are gonna win. That leaves Blackpool to get a tonking and us to put 11 men behind the ball for that 0-0 draw.

16 May 2011 at 10:44 pm #65841do spurs not need to finish 5th to avoid the qualifying
rounds?16 May 2011 at 11:33 pm #65850Anonymous
They need to get 5th to get in the Europa league (UEFA). In seasons gone because the big 4 have won or been involved in the cup competitions, places have gone to next in the league.
This year Birmingham won the Carling so they get in and is it right Stoke are in?
Does the loser of the FA cup normally get in, if the team that wins are already in Europe?
16 May 2011 at 11:42 pm #65853do spurs not need to finish 5th to avoid the qualifying
rounds? If they get in via the Fair Play route they have to play four qualifying rounds, which would mean they will be back in pre-season training about the same time I get home from Stoke next week.
I think it’s fair to say they will be going all out for a win next week. I therefore expect Birmingham to lose and I expect Blackpool to get beaten.
But if I see any signs of Wigan players sitting back playing for a draw I will give them all a slap round the much with one of Bobby’s big brown shoes.

Have you got your transistor radio Griff?
Ready to tell them to substitute another keeper on for the last ten minutes if we are drawing and other results are obvious.
