This has been an unbelievable season not just for little Wigan but in terms of teams beating each other.
How about this for a scenario? Pollitt plays at the Bridge on Sunday and has the game of his life to gift the title to his old club?
Too far fetched? Perhaps, but I just get the feeling this title race isn’t over yet.
We’ll probably get spanked now, but at least we don’t have to worry about relegation!
4 May 2010 at 5:45 pm #31771It’s a good place to be in. If we win, we get to see Latics win at Stamford Bridge and yet again be on the lips of half a billion people worldwide. If we lose ( ideally gallantly or more likely down to some shocking reffingto have a good moan about ) then we get to see the title lifted again for the second time. Not by us and admittedly not much in it for us but part of football history all the same.
4 May 2010 at 5:51 pm #31772Agree. It’s great to be involved in such a crucial match with no pressure on us.
As you say Scholes, we can play without any fear and win, lose or draw I intend to enjoy the occasion. Fingers crossed we keep it goalless for as long as possible because that is when the real tension will creep in for them.
We let an early one in, I fear we may be done for………..

4 May 2010 at 9:25 pm #31824I want us to lose if it means United not winning the title. Just nothing like the Spurs game though.
They didn’t exactly help us in 07 when West Ham beat them at Old Trafford on the final day. They certainly would not have lost that game had they needed to win the secure the title.
And don’t get me started on the thousands of ‘red’ Wiganers

I find it difficult to understand why you would want your own team to lose, especially at Chelsea, and even more especially given the high-profile status of the match and the world-wide audience it will attract.
Mind you, it really is academic since Chelsea will win, for much the same reason we were always going to win against Reading.

I do see your point, but i just think its a win-win situation. If we win it would be great to beat and upset a team as good as Chelsea, but losing would deny United the title as i despise their gloryhunters, gloating from their bar stool. If were ever gonna take 3 points at stamford bridge i would much rather take them next season anyway.
Does anyone know the last time Chelsea lost at home to a team in the lower half?

1932 !! ;)
5 May 2010 at 12:19 am #31873Yeah, i’d love MY team to lose as well!! (hint of sarcasm)
There aren’t half some pillocks following us at the moment. 1932, do you really hate Man Utd that much to wish your own team get beat?
Do you also realise that there is potentially another £750,000 to play for??
As much as I hate the so-called top 4, there is no way i’d be hoping that my team would lose. Or are you a closet Liverpool fan???
Get a grip fella!!!

I would even prefer Noblot to win the league than them glory hunting, never missed a game on the telly, Manc not bastards
5 May 2010 at 11:34 am #31909Instead of wanting your own team to lose so United don’t win the league, how about hoping that your own team win (that’s what I thought “supporting” a team was all about) & hoping United come unstuck too
That way you get the best of both worlds if it comes true

That’s just plain daft thinking. You’ve been out of Wigan too long, mate.
5 May 2010 at 1:32 pm #31916Listen everybody…Lets get a grip of reality here. Our away form is shocking, we havent exactly been setting the World alight with good football lately ( Yes Hull did boss us ! ) and Chelsea are playing with aplomb and determination. Also we aint won in the Capital for….well I cant remember ! I am going to confidently stick my neck out and predict a comfortable Chelsea win on Sunday ! Now I / we dont really want that because doing the double would be a nice end to the season. However should Chelsea win… To cheer us up from not winning in the capital for the first time in ages or doing the double on a big 4 side, wouldn’t it be a great appeaser to see the plastic mancs skulking about as opposed to singing those awful songs they come up with.
