“Oldham Athletic have temporarily shelved plans to move their scheduled home matches against Rochdale and Walsall.
The Latics had wanted to put back the visit of Rochdale by 24 hours to Tuesday, January 4 and move the Easter Monday game against Walsall back a day to Tuesday, April 26.
However, chief executive Alan Hardy has been forced into a rethink.
He explained: “I have received six emails from fans that are opposed to this move and, after listening to their views, it has been decided to wait until we have spoken with the manager again and have the opportunity of discussing policing arrangements for the two games in detail before making a final decision.
“Our contact at GMP has been away on holiday and we have not had the chance of discussing police arrangements for these two games but we hope to do this in the next few weeks.””
