Aparently Swansea have stood firm and rejected bids wanting to keep the player. If that was us, reckon he would still be a Wigan player?
2 September 2009 at 12:26 am #7730If we wanted to keep him desperately and he wanted to stay then yes he would.
The better players we’ve let go, we have got over the odds for, Valencia, Palacios being two. how can you deny them moves of that hilt?
The ones that wanted out and play for massive clubs, we have rightly let go and not got too bad a deals for, Cattermole and Heskey being two.
Figueorra[Sp] is living proof that if a player wants to stay and we want him to, then he will.
Why are so many people on here getting so negative.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!2 September 2009 at 1:02 am #7743possiably palacious would still be a wigan player if 3rd party clubs wernt involved (allegedly cith) who also stirred up a storm with terry, they dont have to tap players up now just leak it to the press to unsettle them

so when the club says the player wants to leave you automatically believe it ?
well let me explode that myth whelan, paul jewell and wigan athletic said that jimmy bullard wanted to leave,to be near his unwell father and that fulham had offered to double his wages.well that is a downright lie,how do i know ?
because jimmy bullard himself told a group of us in the star inn public house in lymm, nr warrington 2 weeks after he was sold,we used to go after fishing every friday and in the summer jimmy came every week.

Which bit wasn’t true, wanting to leave, his father being ill, or the doubling of his wages?
2 September 2009 at 3:58 am #7779none of it
from what he told us
he was offered a small increase in wages at fulham(i dont know what pro footballers class as small) but it was for an extra 3 years wigan refused to match this,he was told the deal was to good to turn down and the club wanted to go in a different direction,he also claimed that wigan made it known that he was available for transfer without him knowing, and that all players have written in their contract a confidentiality clause so they cant reveal goings on in detail,
he claimed that he didnt want to leave, all his mates were up here,i know for a fact he had just bought a new house in the lymm area and was in the middle of spending alot of money renovating it,and he said his words not mine ” he sees his dad all the time, he comes up here on benders, and he can be a right pain in the arse at times ” and “there was nothing wrong with him” there was at least 10 people there when this was said and only me a latics fan,
it was only the second time i had met him and when someone told him i watched latics he laughed “fac me dont go telling everyone on that cockney facking latic wot ive told ya” and that is gospel truth.2 September 2009 at 12:04 pm #7792Fair play to Jimmy, I had a pint with him ones and Mike Flynn in Orrell and he was a top lad…
but..
Not a bad decision by Whelan (I know you don’t want to hear that)
At the end of the day, Whelan cant keep pouring money into the club. I recon after the first season, he put prices up to increase the revenue, it backfired.
Now he is balancing the books by bringing in unknown talent and selling them at a higher price to keep the club in the black.
….I think some people want to see Whelan do a Ridesdale….spend everything and run up massive debts just for the sake of it.
