Boycie has to start at RB from now on hardly put a foot wrong all night defending and going forward. Caldwell and Bramble looked solid. Figgy had one of his best games for a long time. Jimmy Mac and Diame showed how good they can be and we looked a lot more positive in midfield without Thomas and Scharner worked his socks off despite obviously carrying an injury. Not sure about Moreno though the jurys still out on him.
Excellent performance but we need to follow it uop with a good result/performance against notlob9 March 2010 at 12:12 pm #25786Great post and one I completely agree with. Playing McCarthy alongside Diame worked well and gave Scharner freedom and he worked his socks off (as did the whole team). Kirkland hardly had a save to make against 5 times european and 18 times english champions. That is a great achievement and just shows how solid our defence was last night and can be when playing well. I do think Moreno is showing potential, he is still young and has a few nice touches. He didn’t play badly and didn’t stop running for the whole time he was on. I don’t think he’s 100% fit yet though, Roberto will do work with him and I think if he performs well between now and the end of the season we may see him make a permanent move in the summer.

They could be great together given a few years.
Also you say Kirkland hardly had a save to make… He didn’t make any, they didn’t even get one shot on target against the mighty Wigan Latics!
9 March 2010 at 3:04 pm #25838I thought Moreno did a great job taking the ball down and laying off etc he really got under their nose’s and made it really difficult for the back 4. If we can start with the same line up on Saturday and they play the same it will be a walk in the park ! I just hope to God that the performance last night was not for the sake of prospective buyers due to the opposition and cameras in attendance !

9 March 2010 at 6:53 pm #25894Rodders still takes 2 or 3 touches when most successful strikers would take just one
9 March 2010 at 8:08 pm #25912I think you know it’s going to be your night when Titus performs a perfect overhead kick to clear the danger when stood on his own penalty spot.
