Still coming to terms with our comeback yesterday but I think Sunday is going to be even more nerve tingling.
I don’t know if it’s because we did it four years ago, but I’m just getting this feeling that we are going to save ourselves.
Putting aside the fact Sjoke play in pratically the same colours as Sheffield Utd, it is likely we are going to face similar tactics to that day where the players had to defend like lions against Sheffield’s punts into the box. Heskey played the game of his life at Bramall Lane that day heading balls clear and we are going to need characters to stand up and be counted again on Sunday.
For those of you lucky enough to get a ticket for Sunday do us all proud and cheer the team on to a famous win. We will be willing you on from where ever we are watching the game!

16 May 2011 at 8:02 pm #65802Stoke’s strengths are our weaknesses so it’s not gonna be an easy one.
Why can’t we just be playing Sunderland at home?
16 May 2011 at 8:13 pm #65806We’d probably lose if we played Sunderland at home, we like doing things the hard way.
You say Sjoke’s strengths are our weaknesses but before yesterday’s game I’m sure we were among the better teams at defending set pieces according to Opta stats so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Caldwell is naff in the air in my opinion, but Alcaraz is good and we also have two players who have played centre half as our full backs in Boyce and Figgy so when you throw in players like Diame and McCarthy who is reasonably tall we do have people who can head the ball. We also have a giant of a keeper who needs to come off his line and be dominant on Sunday.
The key to our success will obviously be how we deal with the aerial threat, but also how we can pass the ball around their giants.
We do okay against Sjoke and with us knowing what we have to do I’m hoping that gives us the edge as Sjoke have done their donkey work this season.
It will all come down to who wants it more in my opinion and that will be us.
16 May 2011 at 8:22 pm #65807By their strength i don’t just mean set pieces but crosses. They seem to just hoof the ball in the box then score with their knee, arse and whatever else. Basically the type of goals we gave away yesterday are what Stoke are good at.
16 May 2011 at 8:32 pm #65808They’ve got a bit of work to do on the training ground this week then.
Sunday is all about whether our players want to be remembered as heroes or also rans who crumbled under Sjoke’s aerial bombardment.
16 May 2011 at 8:49 pm #65810We didn’t do too bad at their place last year and in fact would have won but for Hugo’s pen miss. In that game Gomez must have won us about 30 free kicks as the yard dogs kicked the hell out of him. Now that would be a brave tactical switch by Bob. :hand: ( I am joking )
A horrible thought came into my mind in the dark hours of last night. Imagine if we lose at Stoke and drop down and their winning goal is scored by ……..
Whelan :scared-eek: :scared-eek: :scared-eek:

18 May 2011 at 12:07 pm #66040May be,just may be sjoke will be mentally and physically exhausted after there cup final exploits and having to play city again on weds neatWe can play the ball around & got Nog & Vic to run them ragged, with a bit of luck!
18 May 2011 at 4:17 pm #66054With Etherington and Pennant both out injury (as im lead to believe) i struggle to find where their crosses will come from.
Wilkinson (their right back) will get frustrated with the trickery of our wing play and concede a number of free kicks and maybe a penalty :)
We need to stay out of a physical battle and play our own game and im sure we’ll get the 3 points.
