No, I didn’t write it and I haven’t seen the accounts. But which bit of £42m annual wages are you struggling to reconcile? TV money is about £40m per year I think and premier league money is only prize money. As you can imagine, and as Jimmy points out, that wouldn’t pay half of N’Zogbia’s desired salary. As for player sales, see one of the opening paragraphs, reproduced kindly for you here,:-

Wigan Athletic have £54m of accumulated losses bankrolled by £40m of Whelan’s loans and an £18m overdraft. (£4m of net assets in the balance sheet elsewhere)
      – Last financial year the club made operating losses of £17m before player sales, £6m after.
      – We are spending 91% of Turnover on Wages (Turnover £46m, Wages £42m)

You can do our own maths.

I am agog that you draw that conclusion.

So much so, that I am going out shopping with the little ‘un and leaving the wife in peace.

A little clue for you… look up the word accumulated. We have accumulated debts of £54m which are covered by a loan from Whelan plus an overdraft.

IN ADDITION, we have a turnover of £46m, £42m of which goes on wages. I presume the TV money is in that £46m – maybe we don’t quite get £40m from TV money, I’m not sure the exact figure to be honest.

Clearly Griff you failed to realise just how ‘hard of thinking’ some people on here are!

It’s a very good article. Anyone with any nous can see that without Whelan there would certainly not be a Premiership club- and there might not be a club at all. The man has provided a journey that I’d never have believed possible – and if he thinks we should get rid of little Charles then who am I to argue.

The fact that wins like today’s happen now and again is quite remaerkable when you consider the odds stacked against.
