From the BBC re Notts County’s new owner:-
Notts County’s new owner Ray Trew may put the club into administration in the next 48 hours after discovering the full extent of the financial problems at Meadow Lane.
Is there anyone involved in football ownership who has the first clue about finance?

Yes and we are lucky we’ve got him

I think there is Griff, but he gets called tight and an asset stripper because he won’t invest all his personal money in the club, and sells players on for huge profits.

18 February 2010 at 1:55 pm #22997You both owe me, big time… I set that one up like a Paul Collingwood half-volley outside off-stump and you leathered it to the boundary like Viv Richards in his pomp.
Still, like open goals, they need putting away. so well done ;)

19 February 2010 at 1:15 am #23158So he’s only discovered the “full extent” of their finances after taking over ?
I thought potential owners would check stuff like this before hand.

That was sort of my point
19 February 2010 at 10:41 am #23172Notts County could take a 10pt deduction this season and still make the playoffs with a half-decent run. If they are struggling, it would make sense to do it this season rather than trying to hang on and suffer even more as a League 1 club next year.
