Geoff Davies will be at the DW Stadium for the Sunderland game!
16 November 2009 at 4:45 pm #13054Geoff Davies will be at the DW Stadium for the Sunderland game! Not only will he be at the stadium, but he will be in the Supporters Bar before the game to answer any questions anybody may have about the old days, plus his good friend Ken Barlow will be there – author of ‘Mild and Bitter’ – Ken will bring some copies of his book if anybody hasn’t yet bought it, he and Geoff will then be able to sign.
I am going to be doing the press release for this, this week, but as the cats out you are the first know.
They are arriving at the Supporters Bar around 1.00ish and it promises to be a good couple of hours.
For those who don’t know who Geoff Davies is, I’ll explain more in the press release this week.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
16 November 2009 at 6:40 pm #13056Still gutted he left us for a BIG club …. (Chester) ;)
17 November 2009 at 1:33 am #13074A teaser from the article I’m putting together (which has plaguerism written all over it!!):
‘Geoff Davies signed for Latics in the summer of 1970 for a reported £800.00p from Northwich Vics.
He scored no less that five hat-tricks within the first three months of signing and ended up with 42 goals that season (1970/71) with Gordon Milne, Derek Temple, Jim Fleming and Graham Oates providing the ammunition as Latics powered their way to the Northern Premier League title.
He went on to have spells at Chester, Wrexham, Port Vale and Wimbledon

17 November 2009 at 11:58 am #13082Remember him scoring 4 or 5 in a 8-0 home win against Goole Town, and could have made it 1-1 at Maine Road in the FA Cup with a great header that Corrigan brilliantly saved. “Happy Days” :)

25 November 2009 at 1:20 am #13804That header against Peterborough in the 2nd round of the cup will never leave me. When you are 11 heroes are real heroes even if they cost pennies and were never in the national papers.
Anyone who asks me who my favourite Wigan players were is amazed when I say Geoff Davies,Billy Sutherland and Harry Lyon. 100% every time, enjoyed it and appreciated the people watching them- but then I was young and naive then.
