It’s no coincidence the up turn inform was down to our position. I base the huge improvement in our results been down to draws been no good anymore.

For a large part of the season Cook tried to play a belt and braces style football. It was all about nicking games here and there and draw and trying to hang on. It was never about trying to win games and lobbing it in the air in hope.

As soon as the turd slapped the fan (in the bottom 3) one point draws and the odd 3 pointer here and there would no longer be good enough to keep us in the Championship.

Since then we are playing with the shackles off. Attack is our best defence and I’m highly impressed with Balagons coolness and organisation.
Morsey looks a different player no he’s moving forward rather than sitting deep with Evans who I think isn’t good enough so dropping him is a bonus in my eyes.

Then theres Lowe, for me theres a v.g. player inside of him waiting for the right team to play him as he should. I know he missed 2 yesterday but that’s nothing more than confidence thing which will come back now were winning.

You have to remember prior to the rich vein of form were in Lowe wasnt even getting into scoring positions regular. Now he is I’m sure he’ll be a regular on the scoresheet.
Even Massey looks like a changed man and all because Cooks probably said for the team to play with no fear and to go out and win it rather than be careful out there.
Teams no longer come at us 24/7 because they know we “now” can hit them were it hurts and were not scared to go at them and risk take.
As I said, Balagon offers security and organisation at the back we have sadly missed for most of the season (snap him up)
I just hope we can stay up and if Cook does keep his job he looks at the end of our season form and starts off next season in the style we left off not how we started this season.

I still don’t think we’re a top half side like some seem to but I do think we are good enough to stay up and always have done.

Sadly I agree :), it’s all about budgets and clever scouting by the club plus one or 2 young lads coming through. There are players out there (Balagon) but affording their wages is another matter.

When you have Rooney on £70k at Derby what chance do we have. If the money is right for Gelhardt and Robinson then I’m afraid we need to take it and strengthen all over the park.

One pet hate is taking on 30year old+ players with a history of injuries longer than my arm. If serves no purpose what so ever. We need players fit and ready to go !

It serves a tremendous purpose actually in the experience and knowledge that they bring to the squad. As you say, we can’t afford a Wayne Rooney at 70k a week or a Charlie Austin or a John Terry when he was at Villa, but we need experienced players that know this division. Due to our budgets we need to sign those with risks be it injuries or in Darron Gibsons case that they’re a bit of an idiot, but what they add off the field is invaluable. Listen to the comments the players have made in the last week about Gary Roberts for example.

Alan Hansen was actually bob on in what he said. You won’t win anything with kids. That Utd side also had players like Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister, Irwin, Keane, Ince, Hughes, McClair who had all “been there”. Our young lads both age wise and experience at this level wise need the likes of Danny Fox around them. If we get 20 games out of them or a few goals and assists like Pilkington then brilliant.

Agree mix youth with experience but we need “fit” ready to play experienced players not sicknote players.

We can’t afford to take a chance on players that come with an horrendous injury history.
Pilkington came to the club with more injuries than fookin Evil Knievel. At 31 did Wigan think it was gonna suddenly go away overnight ?? and probably on top dollar.
It’s ok saying he’s experienced and him and Fox can pass this on. I’d agree but while playing not Facetiming

Quality players with said experience wouldn’t sign for us though at a fee we can afford. Its the same as why we have to sign league one players and experiments

Prefer young home grown players and league one prodigies to so called primadonna players , a market the club was very much in between 2013-15.
Hungry and motivated players on the way up are far better than players on the way down.
No surprise then that One of our most expensive players of recent times had departed the ranks and very few tears were shed when he left .

The youth set up is burgeoning at the moment and if the team an avoid relegation this season I think the club can really push on and establish a foothold in the division .

Hopefully vince. Gelhardt would become more regular and the likes of Weir, Joseph and any others would get the odd bit of game time.
