Squandered along with some serious transfer money received. Wasted by mis-management and poor player management and coaching.
Four years of parachute payments and it leaves us in a lower position than Burton Albion and potentially Fleetwood Town. Both these clubs have risen from the fourth tier on a very limited budget. What is their secret? Probably nothing more than good management, plus decent player management and coaching.
Fleetwood also own their own ground and extremely good training academy.
Hopefully we can now become a little more grounded, remember our roots and learn from the example of these small but well organised clubs.
Well done to both Burton and Fleetwood.

Is anyone gonna tell laticssince78 that you meant the bloke at Fleetwood has invested £10million & not DW???
Having read up on a few things, I’d be amazed if Fleetwood are still in the football league in 10 years time
24 April 2017 at 11:09 am #158382Point I was trying to make with this post is the one made many times before and that is that with a well organised squad and coaches then it is not just about having a fortune. Over the last four years we have had a huge income yet find ourselves in league 1 (almost). Compared to us, those two clubs I mentioned have progressed a million miles on relatively small budgets. Meaning if we had a well organised coaching and playing squad there shouldn’t be any reason we can’t bounce back up again even without the parachute payments.
24 April 2017 at 11:15 am #158383Apologies for any confusion was merely attempting to point out that 10 million pounds is not a significant sum of money in the football world.
Hope he gets his rewards good to see a club like Fleetwood enjoying success.

The last time we were in this position, we had a £9 million advantage over those 23 sides – this time we wont.

Your right pie we won’t but I believe we already have the players. This disaster is down to poor managing /coaching. Despite how bad its been how many teams have actually given us a beating?. We have contended virtually every game and would have had many more wins had we not been so badly and negatively set up. I think we will have one of the best sides in the division but only if managed better and more positively.
24 April 2017 at 3:14 pm #158389i think there will be a mass exodus end of season be it financially due to wages or not wanting division one football
powell bogle burn and so on think we will see the same old routine new players in but at the end of their career or players of a poorer standard replacing the rubbish we all ready have endured this season
futures not looking good is it24 April 2017 at 3:17 pm #158391Won’t be too many clubs queuing up for many of them so if they under contract I think we will be OK.
