Seems a bit too early. They only normally start pre season training about 12th July.

There are “Walks” in Glasgow on the Saturday
In fact it is quite controversial because they will be parading right through an area being used for a festival

So it could be a Latics match in Glasgow on the Friday neet and then follow the March and enjoy traditional Scottish culture then off to a music festival after the marches.
Cracking weekend if you have the money.

There is no place for sectarian walks in this day and age, another reason why I don’t condone the Rangers friendly!

TBF my family & i spent the day in glasgow about 2 years ago. I found them, infact 99% of the scots to be very accommodating. There was banter – “yes!” But nothing what i would regard intimidating &/or aggressive.

Just stay away from the Irish Republican anti English and anti British areas and you’ll be reet.
Anti British sectarianism is rife in those areas and especially so in that cauldron of bigotry Celtic Park.
You are totally right Fill there is no room for it in 2018.

Right gents. I’m going to put down a little marker here.

This thread is about the potential of us playing a friendly at Ibrox. Nothing more, nothing less. News whether a game is actually on, who will play, what will be the (footballing) significance etc, in the same was a we may discuss if we were playing Zaragoza or Besiktas.

Please don’t go into discussing the “rights and wrongs” of the issues that we know mushroom when discussing domestic football in Glasgow. I moderate a few football groups on Facebook and every time there is a picture of Ibrox or Celtic Park put up then the floodgates open, and at least five people get banned every time from both sides of the divide.

So religious politics is off limits here too please.

Stick to Latics related football matters.

A thread in the ‘Non Football’ section is ok though right?

And the other half of Glasgow shows no signs of bigotry at all? Donny, I’ve noticed your anti Irish rants before on this board especially in relation to James McClean. When it comes to the ‘Irish issue’ and you I often think of the quote ‘It’s best to remain silent and be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt’. If you experienced the troubles you might be better placed to offer a meaningful thought. Fortunately most in the six counties have gone well beyond your mind set. So perhaps engage your brain before you spout your usual sectarian shite.

Ps apologies Garswood, just saw your post
