Good, but quite long, article from Martin Samuel today about the folly of financial mismanagement at football clubs.

As a West Ham fan, he can’t resist having a very minor dig at Wigan towards the end, but still, it’s a good read.

That’s two articles that are rational, well argued and backed up by facts.

Nothing odd about that until you remember it’s The Daily Mail.

    The world has gone mad.

On BBC’s site text coverage for the Liverpool game:
“2124: The official attendance at Liverpool is 31,063. You know, for an FA Cup replay that’s on television in a recession, that’s not too shabby at all, is it?”

How come that it’s almost praiseworthy to have a poor attendance (by their standards) for an FA Cup tie in a recession if you’re Liverpool, but when we have a poor attendance against Hull in poor weather – and a recession – it’s diabolical?
