two adults for £20 and all that.
How well have the club pushed this ? Not that it matters to me because I’ve got a season ticket but I’m sure when i read the write up of when Jayt and the editors of the other sites met the Chief Exec., commercial director etc a few months ago it came across (in the write up on here and Mudhuts, at least) as though this game was going to be pushed massively in order so get a decent gate.
Personally i’ve not seen any evidence of that, but then i’m not one of the ones they need to target.
10 January 2011 at 5:44 pm #55093agree, im a season ticket holder also not seen anything to push this.
good offer though.10 January 2011 at 5:47 pm #55094I’ll second this. The club seems to target fans already at the stadium, where the vast majority have got a season ticket or are regulars at the DW. Would like to see the offers being shown in the town centre pushing through the offers.
10 January 2011 at 6:08 pm #55095My old my worked for Heinz and all pension holders got a letter through that gives away 3 tickets for each letter shown at the ticket office for free…. not bad.
But……………
Yet again no rewards for us season ticket holders :(
10 January 2011 at 8:45 pm #55101you get rewarded by getting dirt cheap season tickets
stop moaning
10 January 2011 at 10:10 pm #55109Big game for us this – well according to all the pub chat, message boards etc
No evidence that it seems to be a big game from our club though
Now I am not saying lets whip everyone up ala West Ham a ‘save our season game’ etc – but come on a little effort wouldnt go amiss
10 January 2011 at 11:16 pm #55119The Club did say they were to push this and I have to admit that I haven’t seen anything except for an ad on the back of a bus.
It was muted that they would be targeting the likes of Chorley, Leigh and a few of the fringe areas though.
They also have teh automated phone call that should only go to non season ticket holders and I have seen the email, which would have been sent to everyone on the database that has one.
I am also not their target audience, but I do my bit by spreading the word around friends I know who have been before.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
10 January 2011 at 11:34 pm #55123The club seem to be sprinkling free tickets in several places which includes the established work places of Wigan
Anyone can do that – it is promotion of the game that counts, not leaving tickets like you would leave a pointless flyer in a phone box
And do you know what – it is being met with laughter, people in our own town are taking the mick and not even taking up the free ticket offer
Some good rousing promotion for Saturday would be a start- I was going to give some examples, but if they cant be bothered why should I
11 January 2011 at 12:32 am #55131To be fair, as JayT pointed out alot of the promo work is going on outside Wigan & yes they are e-mailing people with the 2 for £20 offer as I have had one myself.
I agree that the promotion stuff SHOULD be done in Wigan as well as surrounding areas BUT maybe they feel like they are flogging a dead horse with the people of Wigan who would much rather go to a pub or club to watch the game or stay at home & watch it on some shonky Arab website.
11 January 2011 at 12:36 am #55132There was another big advert in the Chorley Guardian last week about the Fulham match.
There has been one nearly every week this season come to think of it.11 January 2011 at 1:23 am #55140Didnt think it would be long until this thread got linked to on the Cuckoos site……………
11 January 2011 at 1:25 am #55141There was another big advert in the Chorley Guardian last week about the Fulham match.
There has been one nearly every week this season come to think of it.I work in Chorley and now you mention it I do remember spotting a decent sized ad in the Chorley Guardian probably around the time of the Bolton home game.
Havent seen one since but then i’ve never looked since.
11 January 2011 at 1:26 am #5514211 home games so far in league with a current average of 15,760! Little Wigan or not, that is a pretty p i s s poor average !! It is down to a number of things but at the end of the day you cant get away from the simple fact that Wigan just doesn’t have enough football fans ! We have lost nearly 5,000 fans since that 1st season in Prem ! Thats a lot of JCL’s !! Even if we were pushing for a European place I still believe that our average would not be that much better, maybe about 18,000 tops and I am being generous ! Dont get me wrong but 15,000 is double that of 10 years ago but as you can see it is balancing itself out now, from the lofty average of 20,000 to the average as of now and I would say that that is about right for Wigan considering our present position ! Go back 20 years and the rise in attendances is very impressive pro rata but there are only so many fans out there and Wigan in the Prem had better get used to the fact that there is only now going to be a core of between 15,000 and 18,000 depending on which end of the table we are at !
11 January 2011 at 1:45 pm #55157The rise in 20 years is staggering, but when you have been away and seen some of the crowds generated and then we have a big game against Arsenal and 17,000 attend its not very good.
I have seen quite a bit more advertising on the Wigan Athletic fans sites since the thread has been made. My dad has seen a few adverts in Leigh. Hope there is a decent gate on saturday I’ve done my bit got 4 of my mates who used to go in Div 2 days to come along.
