On the bench again it seems. I’d have thought this would have been the game to give the lad a start & show us what he is capable of.
4 January 2020 at 9:27 pm #183714Must be frustrating for the lad. His Mum was fuming against Derby. 6 of family come down from Wales and wasnt even on bench. Hope he gets at least 30 mins as eventually he will just leave.
4 January 2020 at 9:36 pm #183715Well he’s just signed a new deal so he is obviously happy with the siruation and he won’t be going anywhere without someone paying the clubs valuation of him and presumably adding some add-on clauses also.
4 January 2020 at 10:17 pm #183720If he can’t get on today then he’s going to permanently bench warm. Not overawed 1st half hour but no recognised striker yet again……..and it shows.
4 January 2020 at 10:23 pm #183721It shows? It would be handy if we managed to stay onside.
4 January 2020 at 10:24 pm #183722Two nil harsh but the omission of Gelhardt in this game is baffling.
4 January 2020 at 10:25 pm #183723I’d have started him personally and don’t think we have anything to lose bringing him on now.
4 January 2020 at 10:46 pm #183724Me too and Garner…..being that Windass looks like he’ll start most league games at mo then maybe he should have been benched…….as for Geldhardt……mind boggling. Unless his new manager doesn’t want him cup tied !
4 January 2020 at 10:56 pm #183725Messi is coming on now
5 January 2020 at 1:57 pm #183753Messi is coming on nowThere’s certainly the odd one or two who think he is the answer to every question ever asked (someone referred to him as our best player on twitter) without actually seeing him play much, but I think most of us just want to see what he can do. He is the future of the club one way or the other that’s for sure even if it’s just financially.
I hope he can step up and be a Leighton Baines type player for us the same with Lang, Weir, Jolley,Mafeo etc but I have seen plenty of “stars” in the rugby academy sides who either never even got close to the first team (or super league) or played 1 game and were quickly moved on. Different kettle of fish with the physicalities etc, but what I’m getting at is it’s one thing him doing it at U18 level and another him doing it in the 2nd tier. There have been plenty before him as well with England youth sides being successful and then players vanishing off the face of the earth or to League One.
5 January 2020 at 3:10 pm #183754For all the hype has anyone actually seen him play bar the ten minute cameos?
I do agree though why recall Massey again for what seems like the millionth time for him to do nowt and no doubt be dropped for Jacobs again next week. Who will then do about the same.
Interestingly Gary Roberts appears to have jumped to the top of the pecking order in subs meaning Pilks can’t even get on the bench who most would have starting.
6 January 2020 at 12:48 pm #183769In reference to Robert’s leaping up the pecking order, Pilkington and Fox came to us with very poor injury records and both are showing why we managed to sign both.
As for Geldhart?, Saturdays Cup game was the perfect opportunity to let the lad run out from the start.
No one’s saying start him every game or first on the team sheet but with the Bristol game been more important then why risk say Windass when were so short handed ??.He could have had an hour and if we went out nothing lost. Cook felt it was ok to play Pearce and Dowell so the emission of Geldhart from the starting line up was even stranger. I can only think he’s to be sold so the cotton wool gets thicker and thicker.
So the big question is, just how good is he or how good will he be ?, we just don’t know and tbh I dont think we ever will. He’ll be sold before anyone finds out if he is he’s the real deal or it’s all over blown hype to raise his profile and more importantly his price.
Fair play to the lad for signing a new deal. He could have easily seen it out and signed a lucrative deal on good wages elsewhere. At least we’ll get a pay day when he does move on unlike what the Chippy Mon did letting Powell run his contract out and leave on a free.6 January 2020 at 5:09 pm #183770He’s clearly not doing anything special in training against Dunkley or Kipre or he’d be in. When he does come on he rarely does it against championship defenders, so why throw him in against Prem defenders? If we drew Fylde again he’d have probably played

Something our lot fail to do, which is to take it on. You clearly don’t like Geldhart and if he scored a 4 timer in the last 10mins of the last game of the season to keep us up you’d still pull your face and moan.
The lad has clearly got talent but the point is we’ll never know which makes you sadly even more happy.
Dont tell me, your a fan of Moore13 January 2020 at 11:37 am #183972Massey,Jacob’s,Lowe must be skinning Kipre,Dunkley every training session then.
