Do you cash in with the unknown factor in tack or play him in a poor side and devalue the lad if and when the goals don’t come?.
Personally I’d sell and use the money to fund the wages of a decent manager and the odd player in Jan and get this relegation monkey off our backs.16 September 2019 at 3:43 am #181001I think Joffey could be the best home grown player we’ll ever produce so for me no way should we sell him early. We should enjoy having him for at least a couple of seasons and then maybe. But by then we’ll be top of the prem anyway so why would he leave us?
16 September 2019 at 4:16 am #181002He’s 17, I’ve been saying all along play him but Cook seems to think hes too young and not ready.
If he were anywhere else he’d be a regular. The other problem is, football’s riddled with 17 year olds who are the next best thing from sliced bread and wither don’t train on or are burned out before their 21.
The problem we have is, the big boys with checkbooks are hovering round.Large fee and same goes for the sell on and wish the lad all the best.
16 September 2019 at 10:40 am #181003A great goal Saturday but insane we are suggesting he’s worth 15 million having played an hours football all season and scored a single goal. Modern football is mad. Bellingham at Birmingham is 16 and has scored the winner in their last two games. Must be worth 40 million then. Give the lad time.
16 September 2019 at 3:19 pm #181004Off our brilliant production line? When did we last have a lad who came through academy and scored? Must be first player in a decade! Great finish but patience will be key.How many has Sam Cosgrove netted for Aberdeen.
16 September 2019 at 4:12 pm #181005Sure Cosgrove joined us at 17.
17 September 2019 at 12:29 pm #181007TBF he has scored more than our2 regular strikers.
19 September 2019 at 11:56 am #181015I was more surprised at us sending out Lang on loan again. I’d have sooner sent Garner out, the only thing he offers us is yellow cards.
21 September 2019 at 5:09 pm #181038Any chance of him starting today supporting Moore ?….Personally I cant see it ….
12 October 2019 at 2:23 am #181372Got two in midweek for Latics v Liverpool, and capped his week off nicely with a brace for England U18’s in Poland tonight. He was captain as well.
12 October 2019 at 11:13 am #181379I’d get him in the team NOW!
17 October 2019 at 11:44 pm #181445Cook has stated he’s not ready so he must be right. He will be on his birthday, his 30th. If your good enough you should be in. The lads physically strong enough and knows were the goal is.
Question,
How many goals will Garner get you ?
How many goals would Gelhardt get you ?26 October 2019 at 4:03 pm #181608Whether he starts Gelhardt or gives him longer substitute roles, now is the time to start blooding him more.
He can’t wait for the team to get comfortable and start winning more as that might not happen, and Gelhardt looks to me to be the sort of player that will help that happen anyway.
Wayne Rooney was his age when he became a near regular. I’m not saying Gelhardt is as good, or will be as good as Rooney, but he is not in a League as high as Rooney was then, and if we don’t try him how will we ever know.
There is one thing for sure, if Gelhardt had been at any other club, he would have had more than 73 minutes on the pitch by now.
Lets face it, in those 73 minutes he has been on the pitch, he has shown as much if not more than Jacobs and Massey have this season.
26 October 2019 at 8:09 pm #181618I agree he should be given more time but I understand the reasons why he isn’t.
In all honesty I can see him going to a top end league one side on loan for game time come January.
27 October 2019 at 10:00 pm #181656Drop Massey & give this lad at least a game.
