He has gone to Scunthorpe.
On Latics site now.
Sounds like he wanted to go as well from the comments made by Cook.
Not interested in Cooks comments. He’s been here ten minutes. More like he has been off-loaded because he earns too much. I fear more will follow. Just what we didn’t want. More frigging change!!!!!
Just read the quote instead of going off on one.
He doesn’t want to be here
It does’t matter how long his contract is for, if he doesn’t want to here then he can clear off. We have had enough of those who don’t want to be here.17 June 2017 at 11:49 am #159845He has gone to Scunthorpe.

17 June 2017 at 12:13 pm #159847Stu, how many times is it written in reports that a player doesn’t want to be here or a player is homesick. We all read reports and quotes etc and make of them what we want but we have a proven track record of quotes and statements and it all adds up to one thing, change, disruption and more change.
After what we did to him with our amateurish dealings last season but it all adds up again to what we all didn’t want and that’s dissecting yet another squad. Dress it up how you want.17 June 2017 at 1:24 pm #159849I ain’t surprised he doesn’t want to be here. When he was in great form last season he was dropped, and replaced by a clown of a keeper who’s performances were abject. I don’t think I would want to hang around at my place of work if the powers that be did that to me. Good luck Matt.
17 June 2017 at 1:47 pm #159850I think some are reading too much into this.
It appears that he was, for whatever reason, unsettled. Perhaps he felt that he wasn’t necessarily going to be first choice keeper, and therefore preferred to move on.
The lad Walton who we are being linked with, is an England U21 keeper who has had a couple of successful loan spells elsewhere, including one at Luton. I’m trusting Paul Cook with this, as he will have faced him last season. Paul can bring in as many players as he likes if he is going off players he has seen who have impressed him. It’s what managers do! The problem with Joyce was he was bringing in players who had looked good at youth level, yet had actual limited league experience. The step up in class to first team football was the problem.Walton is being chased by 3 or 4 clubs, which is a good sign. Hopefully we can get him. We may already have him, given Gilks departure.

The problem is vat its another loan signing and our own player has left. Loan deals come with conditions as we found to our cost last season and a loanee can always be recalled by his parent club if they suffer with injuries. We don’t know what the conditions will be but it will obviously be in Brighton’s favour so is it not a risk. Bring him in by all means but Gilks needs to be replaced with a permanent signing as well.

That Al Habsi lad was a decent loan we got from Bolton a few years ago….I don’t think we’re in a position to be paying for a keeper that’s up to the standard that Cook wants – so a loan is probably the best option.
As Vat said earlier, it’s likely that Cook will want to play the ball out from the back and Gilks isn’t that type of keeper – so would only be a back-up, which clearly, he doesn’t want to be.
19 June 2017 at 8:57 pm #159876Well we shouldn’t have to endure the pain of tippy tappy from the back with inexperienced defenders so if he doesn’t play that boring way then Gilks could have stayed.
So basically he has been forced out.19 June 2017 at 9:00 pm #159877Question though. What kind of keeper do you have to be to play behind the defence of a side that plays the ball out from the back?

So Standish Mon the question is why the hell did we release Jussi? If it was known that Gilks wanted away then he had to stay if only as cover. The point is that 2 keepers both signed have left and we are looking to bring in a loanee in. We simply have to sign another keeper even if its a free transfer to alleviate the risk of a loan signing being recalled by his parent club in the event of an injury crisis. Dan Lavercombe seems to have been passed over so we simply must bring in a permanent signing as well.
20 June 2017 at 1:47 am #159883Jussi was released because he is about 42!
I can’t even believe anybody is questioning why he was released. Hardly played last season and you have to bring things to an end at some point!
20 June 2017 at 2:17 am #159884Apparently Gilks was on a minimum wage contract (fcuk knows what that means) and was waiting to see who was coming in as the new manager to see what his next move would be, well decision made he wanted more money and didn’t fancy our new boss.

I hope we have a settled squad ready for preseason. Would hate to see any player who is destined to leave before the end of August involved in any pre-season matches like the last few years.
20 June 2017 at 1:25 pm #159888We should have about 3 fit keepers, 2 at a minimum. Who are our keepers then?
