Fo ok the police went down in my opinion since the miners strike fo oking w@nkers
6 November 2010 at 1:54 pm #50250I am quite proud of our fans and the lack of trouble at the DW may it long continue, but the cynic in me suspects that that piece is a dictate to wafcsc by the gmp -funnily enough just before the game v Liverpool that has historically had the most friction between supporters since our entry into the top flight.
This is because the lovable scouse rogues choose to break the law and access areas of the ground not open to them and this is what causes trouble, like they have done at the DW and in numerous places all over europe, which in
turn resulted in some major catastrophic consequences as we all know to well.I somehow think that this message is a veiled warning to behave no matter what, the 15 to 20 hurling insults at opposition fans is a mere smokescreen that even is true could be handled more than comfortably by the many police on duty ,it’s not as if they have much else to do, they said it themselves there is little or no trouble, yet they still have a massive presence.
If the gmp and stewards do their job properly the status quo and well behaved family atmosphere at the dw will be maintained.6 November 2010 at 7:27 pm #50257Fo ok the police went down in my opinion since the miners strike fo oking w@nkersMate, my dad was a miner at the time of the miners’ strike and I supported him through thick and thin. We did the fund raising things and arranged all sorts of stuff to support the miners. I hated Thatcher as much as the next man and will certainly shed no tears when the old cow finally decides to do the decent thing and die.
Now then, my dad (who was a die-hard Latics fan) sadly isn’t with us anymore, but he was immensely proud of me when in 1989 I joined the police. I joined Lancashire Constabulary in 1989 and 3 years ago left to take up a similar position in Western Australia Police. My dad was an ex miner, life member of the Labour Party, former steward of a labour club and a high ranking union official and he didn’t consider all police officers to be w@nkers. Quite the opposite actually. He was very proud of my chosen profession.
I’m sure you consider yourself a true, fine upstanding Wiganner. Well Sir, your comments just go to show that you are not fit to lace the boots of one of the greatest Wiganners ever to set foot on this planet, my dad. Just because someone is a police officer instantly makes them a w@nker does it ?
I appreciate there are many knobs who wear blue and I won’t stand for any stupidity dealt out by those who should know better. I’ve been badly treated by coppers both at home games and away games and have let those in positions to do something about it know.
So in a nutshell, don’t tar us all with the same brush. I’m sure in your line of work there are some w@nkers but that doesn’t make every man jack one and the same does it ?
And now we’re 1 – nil down. My mood just got worse.
Cheers all,
Ian.

I used to drive coaches and have travelled on coaches and we all know the coaches where you can do what you want and coaches where you should behave yourselves!

Yes, and all people from Wigan are thick and prejudiced. It works both ways.
I know numerous policemen. All of them decent people.
7 November 2010 at 8:06 pm #50358Well everybody seems to hate coppers until they need one. There’s good cops and bad cops just a cross section of normal society.
