I sometimes wonder what goes through peoples heads sometimes. Why No?

He’s proven quality at Championship level (Player of the year). I think he would slot in beautifully behind Grigg. With Yanic and Jacobs out wide. Perks and Power Holding.

Why would you not want to sign him? Especially if Sunderland are letting him go for next to nothing.

I agree, how many times was it said he was a Championship player?

If anything it’s what I thought we were missing a lot of last year, a playmaker with a pass, rather than a lot of engines.

Positive points – He takes a good penalty, and he didn’t cost £12m like Fletcher, or £5m like Graham.

        err…that’s it.

Negative points – slow, cant tackle, cant play a killer pass, cant cross, cant beat a man.

I’d drive all the way up to Sunderland and drive him to Wigan myself. Unfortunately (for Sunderland), he was signed on ludicrous wages by an ever-desperate Poyet and useless Director of Football Congerton, like Liam Bridcutt & Will Buckley. All three of them will continue to pick up huge wages whilst never getting a game until either their contracts expire, we pay them off, or we pay them to play elsewhere by subsidising their wages. Nobody will pay them what they are currently (not) earning.

I’m in the No camp here. I was one of Jordy’s biggest fans when he was here and could accept him getting caught in possession 3 or 4 times out of 5, because he could make that killer pass and had superb vision and creativity.

My feelings now however, are more on keeping things fresh and keeping the young hungry, chase crisp packet players, rather than “luxury” players, the catagory in my opinion, that Gomez fits into.

I feel that we have the players who can pick out that killer pass, just look at the Michael Jacobs season highlights video on the official site and in particularly his assists.

Sam Morsey and David Perkins are also capable of executing the slide rule pass, as is Stephen Warnock when marauding forward from left back

GC has already turned down the opportunity to bring him here before he was shipped out to Blackburn. It’s not worth upsetting the camp or wage structure for him. The signing of the young lad Gilbey from Colchester will excite me more, having seen how the signings that GC made last year performed.
You cannot do any better than winning the league, so nothing missing at all in last years campaign.

          From Matlock to ManU
          What a journey!
