Towards the end of the game a Sunderland player was very close to snapping Kone’s leg in a two footed challenge that was far worse than Gomez’s sending off, but he didn’t even have a word with him.
I am sick to death of having to talk about referees and their inconsistancies. I am fine with refs getting decisions wrong, I am fine with them being harsh, as long as it is the same for both teams…. but it seems that we get the crappy end far too often, it certainly doesn’t even out with us…
I think the word is corrupt because thats what this league is. Some of the desicions we have had over the last 5 games the big 6 clubs wouldnt get in half a season. Bobby shud say feckit now and take the fines and bans and slaughter these piss poor refs and some of the arse holes at the f.a, if gomez was a streight red then what was scholes 2 footer on maloney and welbecks on di santo and yesterdays challenge by fletcher. The journey getting to the prem was fantastic and the 1st season the same but now, sorry its not all its cracked up to be……rant over
Surprised that former players have not taken up refeering, especially lower league ones, they are on fantastic money and cannot get the basics right,ex players would be a step forward, cannot be much worse
Gomez was our best player v Fulham and. Was doing well yesterday I should know I watch him closely and not from the couch lol can’t get why he is the whipping boy still you guys have to have one so who will you pick on while he is out
Just watched MOTD and I’m sorry that is never a straight red
I’m afraid under the current interpretation of the laws it is.
If you go sliding in with your studs showing you run the risk of being given a red card. A few years ago it wouldn’t have been.
I’ve not heard any statement from the club saying they intend to appeal which is wise because it would not be rescinded.
The only issue with incidents like this is the inconsistency from referees. By the same strict interpretation Larsson should also have been red carded for his challenge on Kone and so should Welbeck for his challenge on Di Santo the other week.
The frustrating thing is that you don’t get an explanation from referees as to why they made those decisions which is deliberate because in many cases it would mean they would have to own up to getting things wrong. That would be an admission of incompetence, leaving them wide open to criticism. Managers and the media would have a field day.
Well it’s been rescinded now, so that’s another game written off because of a bad decision. Although, I thought the only bad decision was starting with Gomez instead of Boselli anyway………..
BOSELLI HAS TO START ON SATURDAY!! What more can a lad do to get in the team he has scored in practically every game he has played in!!! Regardless of the red card gomez was terrible for thwe first 45mins. Surely martinez has to see the light!! I may change my seat to the halfway line as close to the dugout as possible and get a few boselli chants goin!! GIVE THE LAD A CHANCE!! If not him put callum or ryo in!
