I hear that his contract is up in the summer and doesn’t look like he will sign a new one – at a time we seem to finally be seeing some consistency from him (albeit sometimes from the bench) and he himself looks to be happier than hes been for some time, he seems to be getting some confidence back and I think it would be foolish to let someone like him go for nothing in the summer, would be great to see him sign a new deal now he seems to be looking good.

yep, strange how all the ‘gomez haters’ have gone into hiding.

not to worry, I’m sure they will find another hit man.

And who can blame him – I bet he can’t wait for his final game – I hope he drives home another 30 yarder then does a lap of honour with 2 fingers in the air.

Yeh many wouldn’t blame him if he did exactly that, but maybe with his recent upturn in form and his confidence seemingly coming back he may be thinking about staying, interesting to see how much Uwe is or isn’t trying to get him to stay, hes made noises about getting Watson to sign over the past few months but little about Jordi. I personally would be delighted to see him stay.

Have you lot not thought that the reason for Jordi`s `upturn` in form is due to the fact he is playing in what is effectively the second division and has `found his level`.

            #128040

Gomez would be mad to stay given the horrific reception the majority of our fans have given him. He may have found his level, but I suspect if he is in a stronger team he will get the time he needs to play his game.

Freebie to Everton in the summer !

            #128042

Perhaps if all those ‘fans’ that have been on his back and causing that loss of confidecne all f***** off, he might be more inclined to stay.

As the Squire says, if I were him I’d walk away without a second thought – if that’s what HE wants to do, of course.

I dont agree with the opinion that Gomez has found his level.

Maybe its more about us finding our level which allows us to have more control in games which in turn allows Gomez to flourish and do what he does best.

Er, no… have you not thought that we have playing in what is “effectively the second division” all this season, not just the last 48 hours. Since when, our ‘fans’ have suddenly decided he’s OK.

            NOW ????

where’ve you been for the last 18 months or so ?

starter in the cup final (Martinez rated his contribution), second top scorer this season (from midfield) … etc. etc. NO COINCIDENCE

personally, I think the hat-trick against Reading last season was a watershed in his Latics career (kicked on from there … with renewed confidence)

just for the record, sported a Latics Cup Final top at Latics, GOMEZ emblazoned on the back.

            Cue 2 meet-ups

            – one with a Lstics Fan at half-time – thank FECK someone else rates Gomez
            – second with the GOEMZ family at Wembley Central after the game (mother, father, and sister) who (sported my shirt and) insisted I appear on a photo with them (.. who ME ?). What a day, that was !

No doubt made up by the fact that on a great fay for them, proof indeed that not all WIGANERS are ‘Gomez-haters’. Poor sod! Even my neighbours in the East Stand have now come round to my way of thinking. Christ knows it’s taken long enough !

Replace “would be great to see him sign a new deal now he seems to be looking good”

With “would be great to see him sign a a new deal now he seems to be consistently looking good”

Don’t get me wrong, I rate the guy …

              Lovely story, CPJ.

For me, it’s quite simple… I have watched latics on and off for last 35 years, and I think Gomez is one of the most gifted footballers that I have seen wear a Latics shirt, and we have been privileged to to watch him in his time here.
If he does move on, we should wish him well and thank him for his contribution to the club. He is certainly worthy of a new contract, but I can’t see him wanting to sign up, I am sure he will find it difficult to forget the boo boys who have been on his case over the last three years.
