That’s about it. Pity we couldn’t have converted one of those early crosses! Oops forgot, they should have waited till we sign a couple of strikers…if ever. After that they took control of the middle and were better everywhere. Yes I know they’ve spent a bomb but their biggest signing (15 mill) wasn’t available . They were played off the park by Stockport last week and before that held by Blackpool so they’re above average for this league but that’s it. Every team in every league plays with a striker.or even 2…..it’s a football position…….it’s now become pitiful……we are probably one of the most toothless wigan teams I’ve seen( not including Cooks 23 away games without a win ) side. Another winger, another defender and today we could have played till Easter and the net wouldn’t bulge. Taylor must be pissed and why the f### would he want to sign for us ,toiling on his own with absolutely no one to play off. Maloney said the recruitment team been at it since last window……f### off….with what objectives???…Sure our next striker if any will be another loan……..we certainly won’t pay the going rate for one of our own……

We’ve now 3 forwards on our books all loanees, progress? my backside. We reportedly received £350k for Stones so why didn’t we go out and buy Goodwin rather than a loan?.

The reason I say that is he’s young, promising and potentially a money spinner if he does well but, if he performs well for us and scores a few we’ll be priced out the market come the summer and clubs with more money than us will simply snipe him.

First job for Maloney and Danson is to sort our decimated midfield. With M.Smith out for the season (yes season) Adeeko & Francois out till the end of March we need 2 midfielders in a.s.a.p. Weir, S.Smith and Aasgaard cannot play every game.

Our right hand side ? J.Smith?, can someone please explain to me why he keeps turning back and gives it Sibbick?. Sibbick has to be the worse crossers of a ball I’ve seen in a long time, can Maloney not see that ?. He either hit the first man or over hit it, shocking.

As for the match?, we didn’t have to perform well against Birmingham I think we all knew we’d be outplayed for long periods of the match we just needed to defend better, stay in the game and take out chances like they did.
When we played them away we caught a brand new side cold hence we could and should have nicked had Maloney not left us with 10 men for 25minutes.

Yesterday we had 8 shots at goal 4 on target, they had 6 shots 5 on target and scored 3 and that was the difference.

We had 3 very good opportunities to score, the stuck out leg save by their keeper, hit the post and the mass scramble near the end.

Now when your lucks in the leg save zips up and goes in, the hit the post is 3″inches to the right and it deflects in, the scramble on the line a Latics player toe pokes it home.

The new loan guy Goodwin looks like he’s a big physical type which is actually what we’re screaming out for so we can mix it up. Too many times yesterday we tried to play it out from the back even at 3-0 down and we were pressed high so we eventually we just went long.

          (Tin hat goes on)
I’m not a fan of Dale Taylor. I know he’s recently scored a couple but he doesn’t suit us. He’s a 6 yard finisher yesterday he ran and ran for nothing and that’s all he did. He needs far better players around him providing better balls through. We could have played the exact same way yesterday without him playing with 10 men.

Aasgaard?, he was awful as well. Whether his heads elsewhere I don’t know but yesterday it was his opportunity to show what he’s all about but he failed miserably.

Look we were beaten by the better side on the day granted but I’ve seen better sides lose 1000’s of games. If we had of scored early doors I think we might have got something out the game as I don’t think they were world beaters, decent but not nothing really to fear.

I can see how Blackpool and Stockport held them. Anyway losing against Birmingham will not define our season we have to beat those sides in the bottom half.

But this was my fear, injuries and long ones. Let’s hope Danson allows Maloney to go out and bring a couple in because if he doesn’t and we overwork S.Smith Aasgaard and Weir one of them will fall foul of an injury due to been overworked
