Good job I got a bet on at 12/1 then :)
4 August 2013 at 5:30 pm #118846hope Martinez was watchingI hope Martinez was watching too and with a certain amount of pride that the club and team he left us with is in good shape, playing the style of football he introduced.
Martinez reckoned that he left us in good shape when he jumped ship , yet he continues to raid our club for our best players ! If he had any respect for our club and it’s fans it’s about time he left us alone ! !Players move on and it remains to be seen if the likes of McCarthy and Maloney will still be here come the end of the month. The difference is that thanks to Martinez and Whelan the club is in a position where it does not have to sell those players. Should it happen to be Everton who meet the club’s valuation then that’s where they’ll end up.
For the players that have already left they would have gone anyway regardless of who was manager so I can’t see what point you are trying to make.

4 August 2013 at 5:39 pm #118849also no bids from anybody in for McCarthy up to press
4 August 2013 at 7:44 pm #118856Unconvincing win for QPR yesterday watching their highlights back.
Sheffield Wednesday had a man through on goal who spannered it over, hit the post and could of had two penalties given.
Not to mention both them and Reading had to come from a goal behind.
A far cry from the 4-0 win away from home that we had.
Nobody wants to get carried away but if we avoid injuries then this squad is more than capable of winning the championship.
I would almost go as far to say if things stay as they are we have a better squad of players than last season.
Defence looks solid and if someone had offered me Grant Holt and Fortune for Kone and Di Santo last season I would probably have took it.
Plenty of confidence to take into Saturday which can only be a good thing.

Robles out Nicholls and Carson in
Figeuroa out Crainey and his international replacement in
Alcaraz Scharner Golobart out Perch, Barnett and Rogne in
David Jones out Chris Mccann in
Di Santo out Dicko in
Kone out Holt & Fortune in
Goalkeeping department is much stronger
Defence is much stronger!
Midfield we have managed to keep our quality players (up to now)
Wingers pretty much the same minus Di Santo and Lopez (not a great loss)
One hard working striker for 2
I fail to see where I am bordering on the silly? If we had stayed up and Martinez left for Everton with Coyle coming in setting us up the way he has and signing the players he has I think we could do a lot worse.
I dont think (he may prove me wrong) Coyle will ever be the tactician Martinez was for us e.g. Masterminding a cup final domination against the PL champions but apart from that he has certainly ticked all the right boxes in his time here.
4 August 2013 at 11:11 pm #118867also no bids from anybody in for McCarthy up to pressThat may change if he performs well next Sunday.
It was a great feeling though to know we played well, created a host of chances and scored 4 goals.
Onwards and upwards.

Totally agree with you Salford.
I think Owen is a Streetfighter; whereas Roberto was a Pretty Boy !
5 August 2013 at 1:55 am #118877Coyle had to act quickly to find suitable replacements throughout the team and, to his credit, he did. The purchases he made before the season began are likely to be just as significant as the tactics he employs during it.
It was the failure to replace senior players – plus injuries – at Bolton that led to their relegation. The fault was not necessarily Coyle’s – there may well have been financial limitations that we are not aware of. (And I see that Holden is injured yet again.)
We have got off to a great start – I just hope that next week doesn’t damage our confidence. I am now anxiously waiting for the transfer window to close – and there are four more long weeks to go! But if any one of the big moves goes through, then it will start a chain reaction that we may get caught up in.

Awreet Barnsley; we have nothing to fear or loose next week. It’s a day out that players, fans and manager can treat as a bonus and enjoy ! Not so Moyes !
5 August 2013 at 2:43 am #118880How I see the transfers – but no great disagreement with Salford!
Robles – loan ended; Nicholls returned from loan, Carson in
(I don’t know how they will accommodate Al Habsi and Pollitt too.)
Figeuroa and Stam out; Crainey and his international replacement Garcia in
Alcaraz Scharner Golobart and Lopez out; Perch, Barnett and Rogne in
David Jones out; Chris Mccann in
Di Santo and Crusat out; Fortune in, Dicko returned from loan
Kone out; Holt in
I’d say the squad is a similar size but probably has a lower wage bill.
5 August 2013 at 3:51 am #118883Everything went though Watson and he looked absolute class. I think McCarthy is the most overrated player in the squad-if he leaves we’ve got McCann (who came on and looked tidy) to replace him. Far more important to keep hold of McArthur, Maloney and McManaman, neither of whom Barnsley could get near all afternoon.
