The “Guess the Gate” competion will run as normal until a decision is made by the authoriies as to how the EFL season will continue, and I will make a decision on our competition as and when that anouncement is made.
As of now, it is business as usual, so get your predictions in for the next match, there is less than a week to go.
Match 21, Blackburn Rovers Wednesday 18th March 7.45pm Kick Off
1 Prediction so far –
Edwards – 11011
Ermmmmmm what about my prediction of none which funnily enough will be gate on the said day lol.[/quote]
Flaming typical the only time I get near to the right guess and its bloody void ah well back to being nowhere near once we resume.

Sods law that Nuneaton, you would have got 10 bonus points aswell for an exact guess. So unlucky.
13 March 2020 at 10:18 pm #185789Due to the EFL decision to suspend the league programme until at least 3rd April, the ‘Guess the Gate’ competition will also be temporarily suspended.
It will be back as soon as the matches resume.Thank you for your understanding.
In the meantime, if I can be arsed I might add some football related quiz questions over the coming weeks to keep things ticking over.
If I do, they will be quick fire questions worth 1 point and all points will be added to the posters score.
Before I do though, can you all cast a vote of whether you would be in favour as I don’t want to upset anyone.
I will set a format with a deadline, and it will probably be just one question a day. There won’t be a set time when the question is posted, but it will be in the evening, you’ll just have to keep popping on the page to check.
All those in favour, vote Yay, all those not in favour vote Nay.
The deadline to vote will be 9pm on Saturday 14th March.

Well, that went down like a lead ballon, I’ll not bother then.
Thanks Nuneaton for your interest and support, you have just gained 1 point in the ‘Guess the Gate” competition.

19 March 2020 at 1:31 pm #185829Soddit, I would have voted for the trivia quiz. But I’ve been out of touch for a while having every decision I’ve made about our holiday in NZ and Aus being changed for me every 4 hours. I did get to see Wellington Phoenix beat Melbourne Victory 3 – 0. I saw 3 goals in 1 game. That was novel!!
Added to that I guessed the gate ‘spot on’ at 7519. 3 points please Horc.
19 March 2020 at 2:59 pm #185831Are they going to let you out of NZ, or back into UK, or even will there be flights, GG?
20 March 2020 at 11:43 am #185835GL hi!
This is an amazing trip.
Ali planned everything perfectly, as she does, like a well made jigsaw, infact like the perfect Paul Cook game plan. She’s like that.
We got off to a great start, having a wonderful walk in Tasmania and the anxieties of Barry’s 2 – 2 commentary on the Huddersfield game, which I totally believed to the point that I thought the BBC were rubbish!!
Then we came to NZ and Covid picked up pace, like Yanic running head first at goal.
We compared johnsons bluffering directionless non commital ballshit with Jacinda’s concise proactive planning for the future and doing all she can to prevent the spread of the bug.
Every 2 hours we sigh with relief that we have made a decision, for it to be changed by someone else 2 hours later.
So we are still in the southern hemisphere, I can’t go back to Australia to Ali’s aunt to collect some stuff, my seniors rail card and my UK passport (I’m travelling down here on my NZ passport), and my return Qantas flight has been cancelled!! I may need to look for a different carrier but I see the season has been delayed to the end of April, so there is no need to come back until then.
With every player on the pitch playing out of position and the manager constantly changing his mind I think we should just sack ’em all.10 April 2020 at 7:00 pm #185991Not looking good for any more crowds.
Away a lot, but always watching
10 April 2020 at 7:10 pm #185992Not looking good for any more crowds. Not looking good at the moment, and even if football restarts and fans are allowed in, I think there would be a tentative return for most fans under the circumstances.
If that is it for this season, then so be it, it is better that we are safe than risk even more spreading of this horendous disease.
Whoever is top when the season is officially over will be crowned the winner for this season, and we will look forward to season 2020/21.
11 April 2020 at 4:52 am #185993It was recently deiced at the most esteemed and prestigious meeting of the EPL, FIFA, FA and Guess the Crowd committee that Who ever is top at the end of the season, hard luck, there is a moral duty to forfeit that position, Leeds style, to HORC. The queen sat stroking her corgi and Harry, with Megan’s hand up his back were in attendance. Philip just played keepie uppie in the background.
Mr johnson said, simply, with half closed eyes, “you must give it to Horc” as he punched the air with his fist trying hard to convince everyone he was right. Personally it is the first and only time I’ve beleived him. As the situation seemed to be getting out of his control, Dominic simply ran away.
The vote was carried unanimously.
HORC is automatically in the automatic promotion spot, for doing an amazing job and keeping us all entertained and in a true Wigan game, on the edge of our seats until the 93rd minute has passed.
Thanks for the fun HORC, it’s been great.
For our next game, on Monday, my prediction is 0. Points please.
Gracias, thanks, merci, asante sane, dankershern HORC. When so many people are dieing and I’m sure by now most of us know someone, football pales into insignificance and seems irrelevant, at the moment.

Thank you for these kind words GG, I have only just read the post, so apologies for not replying sooner.
I know that in the grand old scale of things this competition pales into insignificance, but It is looking more and more likely that the ‘Guess the Gate’ season is over for this season. Any matches played between now and the season finishing will more than likely be played behind closed doors.
I will however leave the decision until the last possible minute just in case a miracle cure is found for this horrendous disease.
I hope everyone out there is keeping safe and doing there utmost in keeping to the Governments guidelines on social distancing.
Keep positive, we will get through this and we will be back bigger and better for it next season.
Keep safe,
Horc.
