I remember watching a local Wigan Ammy league match a few years ago and said exactly the same thing myself.
Having played for Aspull against the likes of the good teams that were around then, Ince Parish, Wigan Youth, Bethel etc I thought what I was watching now was a load of rubbish compared to the late 70’s and 80’s ………………………………but was it? :think:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I like the comment about the Welshman who “came as a forward but has developed into a full back”. It used to be if you were crepe up front you got relegated to defence! Didn’t notice many females in the crowd. They were probably all at home getting the tea ready – “Women, know your place” as Harry Enfield would have said!
i dont know if anyone spotted him, but of the 4 players in the first shot where they are stood facing the camera one is bill shankley – the middle right.
