Not improved much has he?
How is he England quality?19 June 2018 at 12:02 am #169700A tad unfair Donny, certainly played a couple of daft passes but they can’t stop him at set pieces, he’s won everything he’s gone for but I have liked the way he’s left a bruise on em every time he’s challenged them.
Bobby Moore he ain’t though
19 June 2018 at 12:45 am #169703There are one or two others that aren’t England quality, Maguire has been outstanding compared to Sterling, Young, Walker and Lingard.
19 June 2018 at 12:59 am #169704Linker just said that was a pretty exceptional performance.
Second half was shite.
Nice to have Kane in the box though.
How would he do with some decent service?19 June 2018 at 2:01 am #169707Thought Harry put in a good shift and was one of the better players on the night. As for Dellie Ali he’d be better off selling pate and olives :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
19 June 2018 at 2:06 am #169709Alli was carrying an injury from half an hour in to be fair, don’t know why they didn’t hook him there and then, …..but what Sterling’s excuse was for his ‘performance’ …. I’ve no idea.
19 June 2018 at 2:09 am #169710Johnny King & Albert Jackson could play with a leg in plaster, never mind a dead leg !

The team played well early on but the game was a reminder of quite a few of Latics home performances last season when up against the sides who sat deep. As we know very well it isnt easy. Onwards to the next bore.
19 June 2018 at 12:09 pm #169714I think you’re being unfair on the boys. Tunisia are African champions im led to believe unbeaten in a number of games. Most pundits were saying it could be a draw and a hard game. We played against 12 men on the field and how ever many were on var duty. We were camped inside their half for the 2nd half and never looked in danger. On another day it could have been a rout. Up to now has any other nation dominated their game as much as wa did.

England looked very impressive in first half, and on another day could have been 3 or 4 up by half time.
Would prefer Rashford in place of Sterling as he loses the ball too easily, but other than that, I don’t think anyone had a particularly bad game.
Young looked a bit off the pace, but I wouldn’t write him off.
61% possession
18 shots
8 shots on targetCan’t really complain at those stats.

The same old English attitude of “we didnt win 4-0 so were crap” This board was full of the same posts (usually from Donny) whenever we didnt win at home against a team that came to spoil, sat back for the entire match, and got away with murder with the officials. Some even said Paul Cook wasnt up to the job FFS.
Theres a reason sides park the bus. Its bloody difficult to breakdown especially when you are getting away with rugby tackles in the box.
We won our first game and are 90 minutes away from qualification in a tournament that none of us expect to win anyway. Southgate out!!
Maybe you should watch another sport Donny like Basketball. That is end to end with scores of 101-122. You could stop with the usual “boring, dull, rubbish, pathetic” talk every time a game isn’t won 4-0 or finishes 5 all. I bet you thought the Spain game was shit because they played over 700 passes instead of lumping it to the big lads up top.
19 June 2018 at 5:07 pm #169724Harry McGuire is a decent defender for me.
But like a lot of defenders he isn’t the most comfortable trying to play a ball out when being closed down…. Just get rid should have been the message.19 June 2018 at 9:53 pm #169728I think you’re being unfair on the boys. Tunisia are African champions im led to believe unbeaten in a number of games. Agree entirely. I’m a fan of Maguire. If he could improve on his confidence at running forward with the ball and having a shot, the early comparisons he had with Duncan Edwards would be closer. He’s nowhere near as good, but with his size and that, if he could work on that then his game would improve a lot.
I’m not convinced by Stones, Young for me, isn’t the answer at left back…can’t believe Baines didn’t get near the squad. Sterling I’ve always thought is overrated.20 June 2018 at 12:29 am #169732How about a left footed player on the left.
