After a great performance and an even greater victory last night, do you think that this is the turning point????
The weekkly poll can be found on the home and news pages of the site, on the right hand side and down a bit :ugeek:
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
10 March 2010 at 1:00 am #25959Well, the players have shown they can play the system. The thing is, they’ll aslo have to scrap for some points in the next few weeks, starting on Saturday for one.
I think we do well against a better side, because they unwittingly allow us to play a ‘better’ game of football. I don’t buy into it being that Liverpool were awful. I just think we were that good, and thoroughly deserved the 3 points.
Really, there is no excuse for the inept performances that we saw a few weeks ago, as we have shown our capabilities. Confidence must be sky-high? A feel-good factor has hit the club again. Long may that continue!
10 March 2010 at 1:51 am #25977I look at our results and although we’re nowhere near being Liverpool, I see similarities, Rafa can’t get results week in, week out in the Premier league but can win the Champions league, we can’t always beat opposition around us but turn it on for Chelsea and Liverpool.
If I’m to have a go at Martinez it comes because of what Scharner said last night “we have no plan b”, at times it’s necessary to go route one and be direct, managers like Big Sam know how to get results when survival depends upon it and I think Roberto could do with having that plan b at times, Spurs away being the prime example.
11 March 2010 at 1:31 am #26074Hmmm…I’ll reserve judgement until after Saturday, as we’ve been in this position before and failed to get back to back victories.
If we lose, like we did after Villa and Chelsea then I fear this will have been another freak result and we’ll be back at square one.
If we draw we’ll have to wait until we’ve played Villa and Burnley to be sure.
If we win then I’ll be quietly confident about us surviving for a 6th straight season.
11 March 2010 at 1:06 pm #26089You mean a 5th straight season?
We’d have to stay up next season as well to stay up 6 seasons in a row.11 March 2010 at 8:38 pm #26124:roll: Some nice green shoots, let’s just hope the frost doesn’t kill them off this week.
11 March 2010 at 9:20 pm #26129Until we can string more than one result together, no corner has been turned.
14 March 2010 at 2:24 am #26375one swallow does not make a summer jason blah blah blah?. perhaps you thought i was been desrespectful last friday with my comments but you lot from the various latics web sites if i am not mistaken were walking on egg shells, and you were all promised that this gig might become a monthly thing and you did not want to rock the old boat so to speak?
14 March 2010 at 2:34 am #26378That, today, was simply describable as being what I like to call, for want of a better phrase, a f**king disgrace.
Martinez’s post match comments were as mind-boggling as ever. I really doubt he’ll keep the meetings going, because with performances like today, the questions could get uncomfortable.
Couldn’t believe how bad we were. And Martinez said “maybe we were jaded, after all the effort on Monday”. Well, I’m sorry, but I don’t accept that. So is he saying that we may as well not bother next Saturday, because we play Villa on Tuesday? And did he forget he had changed the side and brought Moses in, and dropped Moreno? Laughable comments.
Martinez would find positives in a turd. Sorry, but he would. I cannot believe some of the things he does.
14 March 2010 at 2:44 am #26381dave i know we have had are run in’s on here in the past and its just a forum and comments are throw away and all that. i know your the same as me as we watched the latics when we was dog sh:t back in the day at springfield park. what annoys me is all this smoke and mirrors stuff. that was bollo’cks today that was. i never went like you but i went to the brum game and that really wound me up!

your spot on there with your comments there vat i have a sneak preview of the big question to be asked from the superfans off here:-
jayt “mr martinez sir, dont worry about explaining your gross footballing ineptitude or clueless tactics -the burning issue among the cockneylatic superfan members is, now you are no longer wearing your tan scarf do you intend to start wearing black shoes instead of the brown loafers you currently wear ?
14 March 2010 at 3:15 am #26387loudmouth i think what the pressing question will be from jason is not anything to do with the terrible result against bolton but what have you bought your mum for mothers day?????????? is that been desrespectful jason old chap????????????????????? :?
14 March 2010 at 3:22 am #26388To be fair to JayT and the other lads, they can’t really go there with their ‘ heart on their sleeve’, and start picking him up on tactics, and this, that, and the other, saying “What the f*ck happened at Bolton?” and suchlikes. No doubt Ed Jones would halt proceedings straight away.
I think most of us can see it for what it is, and it is just spin-doctoring. I.E. “Roberto is close to the fans and likes to meet with them”. Truth be known, the club know it’s going the wrong way, and it’s just a blatant attempt to ‘smoke-screen’ things, like you say. Asking questions about shoes, scarves, or whatever trivial thing, is best left for when the team is doing well, or it just invites ridicule. (I’m wondering if he wears ‘Loake’ shoes, but I wouldn’t ask him, as I’d sooner know other things!)
I’m not criticizing any of the lads who go from the forums. But we all know that they are probably dying to ask a few questions which they know they just can’t. Basically if they cross the line, that’ll be it.
