He collapsed in his seat, just lower down than where I sit. The stewards went to him and a couple of Wigan Fans carried him down to the concourse. This happened about 20 mins before the end of the game As I went down onto the concourse, after the game, the paramedics were working frantically on him. I must admit when they carried him onto the concourse I thought he was dead. As I walked home, near to the lights at Beech Hill, the ambulance passed me. Glad to see he is recovering. I have been thinking about him since yesterday.
The man is the father-in-law of someone I know and he has asked me to post this message:-
As of 3’o clock this afternoon,George was sat up in bed, reading his paper moaning about not remembering anything after half time and going mad about how bad caldwell and alcaraz where in the first half.
George was damn lucky and only because of the people sat near him, the st johns amblulance brigade, the stewards, paramedics and police in the control room being so good, he is able to still be able to read his paper the doctors have been quite candid about it without everyone involved being brilliant he would have died.
Thankyou from all his family to all involved and thanks for everyones concern.
So there you go. At least he cut the midfield and forwards a bit of slack, even if the centre-backs got the treatment. Sounds like he’s doing as well as can be expected to me.
I am so glad to hear this guy is ok, it happened about three/four rows behind me. When I turned around he was just slumped in his seats with his eyes glazed over. Everyone around us thought he had died but a massive well done to the two guys that picked him up and carried him into the concourse.
I found it hard to celebrate our win last night as it was playing on my mind.
All these “get well soon” messages reminds me of a bloke who used to work on a lathe at a local company I worked for some years. The fella had an artificial leg and one day the knee joint disintegrated. So off he went to where ever it was you go to have these things fixed. When he returned someone had left a “Get Welded Soon” message on his machine.
