My mate Ross McNeil ( Ian McNeil’s Grandson ) is coming to visit me on 17th January for the Blackburn game and I was wondering whether he would be welcomed in any capacity by the club for a tour/ meet the team sort of thing? Who would I contact? It would be a great surprise for him if I could sort something! I am sure that there are not many of you who need reminding as to who Ian McNeil is and how important a part he played in the history of this great little club!

I am sure that there are not many of you who need reminding as to who Ian McNeil is and how important a part he played in the history of this great little club!Me and quite a few others had a right slanging match with Ian McNeil at half time during the Port Vale game and if there had been no metal cage around the tunnel at dear old Springy i,m sure it would have turned real nasty. To be fair to him he gave as good as he got. I was so worked up and upset I left the game at 0-3 and walked it back to Shevvy and of course we won 5-3 :lol: I’ve never left early since.
A similar story really; I went to Macclesfield back in the late sixties with a mate of mine and at full time, after an inept performance and losing, I was persuaded by my “mate” to tell Mr McNeill, as he was leaving the pitch, to go back to Ross County. He stood and stared at me without saying a word which was a pretty scary moment for a young teenage me. If looks could kill and all that…!
I doubt he remembers that after 40-odd years but I offer my apologies anyway. :blush:
