This guy is the perfect example to what in the modern day is called a defensive midfielder but actually should be called a player whose crap at footy but can run around and tackle a lot.

There are some arguements that every team needs one but for me the problem is at home especially he gets more possession than anyone else, unfortunately he grinds the flow of our play to a halt more than the opposition.

I bet nobody (apart from LHL) would have predicted that free kick was goin in the onion bag.
To be honest I predicted a Rodalegga special into row Z, then up pops Gomez with a beauty.

Having a defensive midfielder like Thomas isnt a bad tactic if the other players infront of him can pass the ball. The problem is most of the midfielders we have (Thomas, McCarthy, Diame, McArthur) are good at covering ground and winning the ball back but then dont know what to do with it.

How many times have you seen McArthur play to judge him?

Seen him for half a game against Preston and he was awful. But he should get his chance.

Exactly Edinburgh. He’s being judged on half a game. The first time McCarthy came on as a sub he looked shocking.

You must have seen him in the SPL?

Did anyone notice how lucky Thomas was not to get sent off in the second half? He was already on a yellow when he committed a foul part way through the second half, just in front of ES5. The ref went straight to his top pocket, but then waved play on for the advantage to Wolves. Thankfully the ball remained in play for a good few minutes and he got away with it!

If we’d gone down to ten men at that stage it could all have been very different.

I would like to see McArthur given his chance, although I suspect that Roberto is giving him time to settle in like he did with McCarthy.

It might be worth him giving him a run out in the latter stages of a few games though, especially if we are winning.

He needs to get used to playing in a proper league, as opposed to the League 1-standard SPL.

McArthur was an above average player in the SPL, but wasnt great against the old firm. If we are going to get anything out of the two Hamilton players, McCarthey is the man.

I saw Alcaraz kick out at Doyle and get away with it
