FIFA have decided to take no action against Thierry Henry after his handball helped to knock Ireland out of the World Cup.
What I don’t understand is why anyone would even think that they would do anything. Why should they?
He handballed it and gained a bit of an advantage, he isn’t the first and certainley won’t be the last.
If action was taken against him, what would be next, jailing people for diving, execution for professionl fouls etc.
At the end of the day the officials didn’t see it so fair play to him.
From what I heard on SSN this morning there is a ruling that says they can punish something that brings the game into disrepute. Problem is if they did fine him or suspend him then the FAI would kick off again so best to let it go.
He does have SOME points, such as the ball bouncing (well, the fact that it shouldn’t) but it doesn’t really mean that he should handball it. To be fair I don’t think punishment should be took as it was instinct and I would think we wouldn’t mind if one of our players got us into the finals by doing that

Having said what I said, and reading other views on it, I was more than a little bit pi**ed off when Maradonna thumped it into the net to knock us out of the World Cup that time.
