            Being serious….I’m guessing it isn’t Hereford because we had a few games left to play after being elected?

              It’s an obvious answer, but I would say Tranmere in the League Cup, assuming ypu mean the first competetive match.

                    We were elected on June 2nd 1978 after a re-count. So the next game was a pre-season friendly and i’ll be buggered if I can remember who it was against.I was at Hereford for that game and the day just flew by in a drunken haze. Incidently we were also the last team elected as the rules changed a few years later and automatic promotion came in.

                          Yep Bolton got it correct ;) a 1 page A4 team sheet was issued.( I think it was blue?) I have a few somewhere stashed away???

                            I was 13 actualy Mr Arkey but I am not surprised you find that hard to believe. Horwich RMI was prob closer to our house in Aspull than Springfield Park was. I went on my bike and this was a first and last time I used this mode of transport for an away game :P
                            Bronx you are correct the programme was an A4 sheet printed on light blue paper and quite a rare programme to have.
