27 September 2012 at 9:21 pm #93978JPC01 – nothing whatsoever related to the content of your posts, but I have to say that your writing style intrigues me. It’s almost as if you’re composing a telegram.
You’re not an ex-army radio mon, are you? ;)
like it…in response to your questions, answer NO (linguist, yes)
27 September 2012 at 9:36 pm #93980One swallow and all that … jury out on his defensive rigour, even Salford Latic no longer totally convinced if he understand his recent post (if Ramis doesn’t make it as a centre back, then attack, etc.)
Granted a good goal last night, but still very much in the RED for me,
lets see, eh … ??Alcaraz, Figueroa + Caldwell / Ramis for me at Sunderland.
It’s nothing to do with swallows (or Amazons for that matter), it a comment on how he reputedly has no left foot but still managed to rattle one in with his left foot/wand/peg from twenty five yards out.
As I’ve said before, if he’s playing as a centre half his foot preference has no bearing on which side of the three he should be playing as he’s not required to go haring up the wing and cross the ball in. Or, by the same token, the left sided centre half should be left footed, the right sided should be right footed, and the central man should be proficient with both feet.
I didn’t go the game on Tuesday, but I’ve been informed that Ramis was solid – and you can’t ask for much more than that.[/quote]
Look, for me jury still out on Ramis (value for money).
If we spend 4M EUR (significant sum for Latics), then I anticipate an improvement on the status-quo (Caldwell, Alcaraz, Figueroa). I have YET to see it.
Our PL defensive record to date (min 2 goals shipped every game bar Southampton – got lucky – does not provide any comfort to support the argument.
As regards being left-sided, right-sided etc., then take by way of example the Valencia /Johnson incident last weekend leading to Utd penalty /winner (Pool / Utd).
Let’s just say in that situation I’d much rather have a natural left-footer (e.g. Figeuroa) attempting to challenge on his ‘natural side’) than I would a right-footer (Johnson, Ramis) making a desperate lunge and attempt to tackle with this right (e.g. Hazard /Ramis, Chelsea).
Has Johnson not scored the odd goal with his left foot (some good uns as well), cutting in from the right ??
Can you imagine Ramis having done the reverse / opposite – move from left, and shoot with right ? Sorry, I can’t. He ain’t a left-footer and
at the moment, it ain’t no Usain Bolt either. Not saying that Caldwell and Alcaraz are, then again they came much more cheaply. As regards Ramis / A N Other being solid at West Ham, let’s see how we fare against 1st 11 PL opposition.

With all due respect, what the fook are you going on about?
For starters, Johnson is a full back. You do know the difference between a full back and a centre half don’t you?
For avoidance of doubt, I’ll clarify it for you: a full back plays on the wing and is encourage to defend and also advance along his wing. A centre half plays in the centre of the pitch and therefore tends to pass the ball from the centre of the pitch. He doesn’t ‘cut in’, because he is already ‘in’.
If Ramis has to challenge the winger it’s because his wing-back is out of position and he is coming from his centre half position – not tracking the winger down the touchline. It happens week-in, week-out for every team in the Premier League, and because of the high percentage of right footers to left footers, nine times out of ten the centre half helping out on the left is right footed.

and encourage in the above case should be encourageD ;)
look SW, sh*t happens (get out the perfect world …)
e.g. Chelsea 2nd goal… Figueroa misses tackle, Hazard passes him by, on to Ramis last man standing and whoops … fooking awful attempt to play the ball, sorry MAN (textbook challenge), and down he goes (Hazard that it is) PENALTY
Eh volia !!
Back 3 – Alcaraz, Caldwell and Figueroa (personal opinion)
UNTIL such time as Caldwell reverts to his bad old ways of early 2011/12 or Ramis proves himself to be worth the money, and marked improvement on status-quo

Right, if we’re playing a game of Highlight The Typos, then it’s my turn:
get out the perfect world (the word ‘of’ has been omitted)
Hazard that it is (You mean ‘Hazard that is’)
Eh volia !! (The phrase you are looking for is ‘et voila’);) x3
I’m not actually sure what ‘sh*t happens’ means, and or what this perfect world you are referring to implies?
On second thoughts, you’re right; if it was a perfect world, you wouldn’t post in annoying report form and wouldn’t use so many CAPITALISED words.
Also in a perfect world, you’d be aware that people with stronger right feet often play on the left hand side of a back two or three, and you’d see that Ramis’ poor tackle on Hazard was most likely down to over enthusiasm to make amends for his previous mistake or was down to poor judgement rather than a case of him trying to tackle with his ‘non-tackling leg’.
I appreciate the fact you don’t rate Ramis, and you’re entitled to your opinion. Personally I think he looks decent, but that’s my opinion. But, whenever you claim that he is being played on the wrong side of the back three because/or he has no left foot, I will respond in a similar vein to my previous posts.
Over and out; onto another thread.

Respond as you like …
Lets just say, Ramis hasn’t played on LHS of back 3, since Chelsea. Nor was he moved out there when Beausejour (Figueroa to LWB, Lopez DEF)) went off against Stoke (Jones on, Beausejour replacement). Might tell you something …
Over-enthusiasm (you are having a laugh)???! If anything I would say quite the reverse; the ease with which the likes of Hazard, Oscar and Jerome have gone by him, with which he was dispossessed at Utd and /or unable /unwilling to put in a challenge in the box (2nd, 3rd goals respectively) ….
Not that I don’t rate Ramis per se, more that I ain’t convinced by what I’ve seen to date. Don’t think the majority are, press included.
Stand corrected 3x above, …. goodpost Du kannst !

How is it cultured? Fine dining, opera and radio four?
Actualy, I’ve always taken this and similar comments to mean he has a shit right foot!

Yeah, it’s a variation on the eduacted left foot. It went to Oxbridge while the right one failed its 11 plus and finished up at Cardi with me.

Oi! Cardi was a great school. At least it was when I was there. Obviously it may have gone downhill with ‘other’ year groups.
13 October 2012 at 1:44 am #94921But, thanks for the heads up JD, you’ve given me an idea for a blog. -
