29 February 2012 at 5:58 pm #81994Leave the decision making to RM, he knows what he is doing ( Stifled cough ) !!
When he keeps us up this season that will be 3 on the trot…
Our most succesful manager ever?
debatable criteria… but credit where its due ey.

Very debatable !! I am tired of just surviving now. 1 win at home in 6 months is not what I was expecting when I forked out £295 ! Deep down I know it will be more fun playing on a more level playing field !

1 March 2012 at 2:40 am #82006We are probably the smallest and most unfashionable club ever to be in top flight football. We are sandwiched between the 2 biggest draws in world football who also have massive neighbours who get over 30,000 gates every week.We have a highly successful rival in our own town who play a different game.Of the other 19 Prem clubs 6 of them are a bus ride away encroaching into our fan base.We are permanantly slated by the British media who cannot wait to see the back of us.I doubt any other team anywhere have to overcome as many burdens as we do and despite all of this we have lasted for 7 long years in the most difficult league in Europe. We have done bloody brilliantly even if it has been hard to digest. Our expectations in the last 30 years have changed so much yet this amazing club has delivered with interest.I really dont see what some people want.

We are clearly punching above our weight !

Then learn to deal with it like the rest of us have and stop slagging off everbody and everything at the club and crying like a big girl about it ;)

When we do finally succumb I for one DO NOT want to go straight back up ! Personally I think we will be a ” Mid Div ” Championship side at best ! It is now clear that we never will be a big enough club to grace the higher echelons of English football !!
1 March 2012 at 9:46 pm #82036It is now clear that we never will be a big enough club to grace the higher echelons of English football !!If by higher echelons of English football you mean top 6 or so of the Prem then yes you are correct.
If by higher echelons of English football you mean mid table of the Prem then no you are incorrect.

I shall put it differently then. “It is now clear that we never will be a big enough club to grace the Premiership”. Ideally we would be better playing in League One with the hope of getting promoted to The Championship as our goal ! Avoid the top 6 there for a few seasons before going back down to start it over again ! A few good cup runs during that time would be a plus ! Once we forget about the Prem and concentrate on our true level things will be ok with roller coaster style seasons instead of the whipping boy status we hold now !

Been one hell of a ride though, that the other 100 or so clubs in english top 6 divisions would have loved to have had.
2 March 2012 at 9:13 pm #82120Spot on Edinburgh mon.
Question for you Fil
When you became a Latics fan was it to see success?
I imagine like most of us on here you became a Tic when we were a million miles from where we are today.Anyone who wants glory follow Man Ure.We have witnessed a football miracle seeing this club play in the Prem.Your right we are not gonna be a top club and we will eventually go down and im sure we will all enjoy it whatever league we are in.What we have achieved is Roy of the Rovers stuff which very few have seen.If you put everything into context and gauged the club on success in the last 40 yrs against the other 91 clubs we would easily be in the top ten.We didnt become Wigan Athletic fans all those years ago to see us win things and become a top league team,we did it coz its our town its our club.We just got lucky and they delivered.Utd,Chelsea,Spurs,Liverpool etc can win everything for eternity but their fans will never witness what we have and whichever league we go into that journey just becomes part of the Latics story.
2 March 2012 at 9:56 pm #82123I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Wigan fans have been spoilt in recent years…
I was telling a crystal palace fan at work about the consortium of Martinez haters on this forum when he said ” what the #### do they want?”
