Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is preparing a £5million bid for Wigan’s Honduras star Maynor Figueroa.

Hodgson will make a renewed effort to raid the Latics for Figueroa after his snub from Luke Young.

Figueora appeared in all three of Honduras’ games at the World Cup and Wigan boss Roberto Martinez faces a fight to keep him.

Stoke have also registered their interest for the 27-year-old left-back, who shot to Premier League stardom with his stunning 60-yard goal against the Potters last season.

Hodgson said: “I don’t think I’ve ever said the squad is in need of a major overhaul.

“We need to add one or two players to the team.

“It is important we keep the nucleus from last season and a nucleus of players who are maybe just behind the first team.”

Really don’t wan’t Fig to leave us to be honest simply because he fit’s in too well with our squad and think he would be waste at Anfield

Fabio Aurellio has re-signed for Liverpool, giving them more cover at the back.

I don’t think they’ll waste 5 mil on Maynor to be fair.

Figs to Liverpool is looking increasingly unlikely.

He wasn’t that bad, what about the games that he didn’t play ?

            Spurs away – [s:2omabbii]won[/s:2omabbii] lost 9-1
            Fulham at home – 1-1

Edman was 5 times worse than him :|

Yeah, Edman was bad, but he’d just come back from a bad injury. Probably far too soon.

Just read that Martinez has rated Fig 2nd best left back in the prem behind Evra, and thinks he can go on to be the best in the world!!!!!

            What about : Cole, Warnock, Baines, Cliche. . . . . . . . . These guys can actually defend!

Me thinks Our Bob is attempting to big Mr Wandering Left Back up a bit in a bid to push a sale through.

I’ll stand by my comments, he’s useless.

I like Figueroa, he’s a decent player who’s always available to play but I would sell him. I just want to keep the original media quoted £7m up, before long it will be down to a few mil. Even Bramble was sold far too cheaply.

I think this is bob trying to get the best price he can for an overrated left back! ;)

Bramble? A 29-year old defensuive liablity in the latter stages of a ludicrously lucrative contract who wanted to leave the club, sold too cheaply? I am not so sure about that, particularly as I, and presumably everyone else, has no idea outside of spurious Sky Sports and tabloid newspaper reports what the actual fee was.
