This guy was getting touted as a replacement for Martinez the first time round.

It was a stupid idea then and it is certainly a stupid idea now!

As entertaining as Holloway can be I would keep Coyle over him any day of the week which is certainly saying something coming from me!

His teams are all attack attack attack and carn’t defend sounds like someone we all know,I’m sure Coyle will get it right in the end but I’d love DW to show balls

I prefer him to show commonsense.

My biggest gripe about Coyle getting appointed was I was desperate to see continuity from Martinez to utilise some of our more technical players.

I don’t think Holloway fits that mold either.

That being said if we are looking for a master tactician who can get his team to dominate an FA CUP final seemingly out of nowhere with a squad of the quality we can afford you will be looking a long time.

Maybe Whelan new this and thought rather than chasing the style of manager who has moved on to pastures new he should just hire the best person available for the job and let them do it their way.

As much as I have my doubts about Coyle I certainly have none about Whelan who has a cracking record for hiring successful managers and a reputation to swing the axe without hesitation if necessary.

Holloway has taken two unlikely teams into the Premiership. Coyle took Burnley up in equally unlikely circumstances.

Holloway didn’t have the resources to keep Blackpool up – although they survived until the last game of the season at Old Trafford.

Crystal Palace look much less well equipped to stay up – who will be appointed to supervise their short stay in the Premier League?

To be fair he took over a team sat comfortably at the top of the table and in the end just about scraped in to the play offs.

Palace fans seem to be unanimous in the opinion that the quality of football steadily declined under Holloway.

If I was them the name at the top of my list would be Tony Pulis.

A change to a more aggressive style could set them up nicely for the return of Glenn Murray.

It now seems that promotion to the so called ‘ promised land’ is a death knell for the managers concerned. I heard he got booed on Monday which was probably from the hangers on who turn up at every club when they get promotion to the big league the disappear agin when times get tough!
Not sure any manager could do much better here with the club in transition .

Fortunes can change very quickly in football!

“Freedman leaves Palace with the club sitting fourth in the Championship and just two points off the leaders Leicester City, while Bolton are a further six points back in 16th.”

Holloway took Palace up by winning the play offs, but has now left the club. A club has rarely been so ill-equipped for the Premier League – nothing can save them from relegation this season. I don’t know who could guide their descent back into the Championship – it will be an impossible task to maintain morale.

Freedman replaced Coyle at Bolton, where he presumably thought he would have greater resources. They finished four points behind Palace but behind Leicester on goal difference, and just failed to get into the play offs. They now lie fourth from bottom. Freedman can’t be feeling very secure at the moment, but I think Bolton should persevere with him.

Coyle had taken Burnley up and, after one steady season, Bolton down. I don’t know how the story will end at Wigan. For the present, we struggle on.

Comments from the Palace chairman ……….

“It’s a completely different challenge for Ian and a completely different challenge for us at the club.

“Ian’s been very noble and he’s come forward and said: ‘I can’t do it.’ I’ve spent three days trying to get Ian in the frame of mind that he can do it.”

He wasn’t sacked it would appear. He also said they’d lost team spirit because they made too many changes too quickly.

I like him. Whether I’d want him at Wigan not so sure.

Then again I’m not sure I want who we have got at the moment !!!

Can’t wait to see the team for tonight.Hope Roger gets a go ……….. :)

Hollaway looks like he needs a holiday back home in the south west ,as for Coyle, most games were on top but some games sh*te, It’ll come in the end and I can see us going on an unbeaten run, but can you imagine this squad in the prem !!! didn’t think so,here’s for 3 pts tonight though

I thought last night against Kazan we looked like a lower ranking Premier league side in standard so we are more than capable of going back there.
Coyle seems to be slowly building something so he should be given the season which is fair in my view.
Nearly the end of October and we are unbeaten at home!!!!
A long time since we could say that
