27 December 2013 at 4:29 pm #125321I don’t think Keane got much service to be honest, but Holt….

Me to my Better Half – “If applied to Grant Holt – Sarcasm”

27 December 2013 at 5:22 pm #125323It can’t be denied that at least one player turned up in fancy dress.
27 December 2013 at 5:36 pm #125324I know what you are all saying but to be fair, he has not been given a run of more than one or two games. When he has played from the start, it has been a change of formation from the last time he played. his confidence is rock bottom.
What I can see is a player who has played in a regular 442 formation for many years and scored plenty of goals from inside the box. I believe every premiership goal he scored was from inside the box.
There was one move on Thursday when he collected the ball just over the half way line layed it off to McClean, who went hell for leather down the left wing put in a perfect cross and Holt was at least two yards short in meeting it and to be fair, he was the only player in the box. Rosler turned round to the bench shouting see that, nobody on the end, nobody on the end!.
In summing up we all know Holt has scored goals in the prem, you don’t become a bad player overnight, but the role he is being asked to play does not suit him one bit. Its a similar situation to Bosselli, who looked like a turnip receiving balls chest/ head height, back to goal 40 yards out.
Rosler has to decide if Holt is the forward he wants to work round and if he is, I’m afraid its a case of getting balls down the channels, just like Bolton did and banging them in to the box at every opportunity. Holt I’m sure will get on the end of one or two. At the moment it is pass, pass, pass 30 yards out and then into the box where at least 6 opposition players are waiting to pounce and head or kick it clear.
Yes I agree Holt looks a chump, but some blame has to go down to the role he’s being asked to play. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!27 December 2013 at 5:43 pm #125325Jr i do kind of agree but holt need to adapt to. He got a couple of passes into him which were perfect to run on to but hes making the passes look bad by his inability to move. Flat footed doesnt do it justice

What a journey!27 December 2013 at 6:38 pm #125327Holt, very disappointed (formation, whatever ……pedestrian).
Best and only Latics player to come out with real credit yesterday … Jordi ! By a country mile. The only guy who gave the impression he ‘loves the football’. Played JB in 4/5 times, got a man sent off to boot.
Credit to him for outsmarting ‘the boo-boys’. Pity, he/s off if Sundat newspaper football gossip proves to be true; allegedly, p1ssed off with the poor treatment he get’s from the doom-mongers.
Watson back, and Gomez in from the off on Sunday (Burnley). Powell in for Holt.
January transfer window – hopefully, we’ll manage to srengthen our strike force (and keep Powell), though can’t see it being easy (player availability / money).
27 December 2013 at 7:13 pm #125328Fair enough Holt can do better but strewth the service to him was crap with crosses about as bad as ive seen for a long time.If your playing to his strengths then its balls in from wide and yesterday we barely got 1 in the box.
27 December 2013 at 8:50 pm #125329Look,no matter which way you wrap it up,Grant Holt is shit.
27 December 2013 at 10:07 pm #125330We put enough balls in the box for a decent striker to have the ball up his jumper at full time.Jordi was immense today.
27 December 2013 at 10:25 pm #125331I know a woman in beech Hill who likes balls in her box.
Immense? He was good.
Going to Swettenham tomorrow, anyone been lately?
Might try a light stick shotted down, or balsa if the flow is strong.
Grayling.

Get on Holt’s back if you want, but there are far more things wrong than him, but well done for spotting were we are going wrong and thanks for directing the negatives away from Gomez.
