His glory days are well behind him, couldn’t understand why we bought him but there ya go! Bad business, draw a line underneath it and move on!
To be fair fil at the time this looked like a great signing but it just never worked. Take Duke for instance he was brilliant till he left us then his career went downhill quicker than Franz Klammer.
Holt was on the wane and he knew that his better days were behind him, the comfort of a half decent wage left him with fuck all to prove! :)
I’d never blame the player, who in their right mind would not jump at the chance of a longish contract, on top dollar (paid more than most of those in the prem) full well knowing your best years are behind you.
Job security is what it’s all about and how much you can get out of it in such a short period of time.Holt did well just a shame he didn’t do well on the pitch which leaves a sour taste in the mouth. I know one thing, he won’t be coming back to any dinner night’s players past and present
