There’s hardly any posting on here when we get a great result and play well. Compare how quiet the board is this week compared to last week after the Sheffield game.

Because a fair number of our supporters revel in having a good moan and saying ‘Told you so’ when we lose.

Like on Saturday when we’re 3-0 up and looking comfortable but some of the West Stand are screaming at Caldwell to ‘Get it sorted out’ because they’re passing the ball backward and sideways in order to keep possession rather lumping it forwards.

      Unbelievable.

& the problem is that some of our supporters think we should be walking this league. What they forget is we are now a league 1 club who has predominently signed players from that division, & hence, we are a league 1 club with league 1 players.

As i have said many times, we occupy a good position in the league at the moment with a young, inexperienced manager still learning his trade. Sometimes he will get it right, wrong other times. But, im enjoying this season & its a wonderful feeling turning up at the DW. To me its just like it used to be all those years ago at springfield park & the early days of the JJB where i just went to watch a football match. Yes i wanted to win. Hated it when we lost. But regardless, i just enjoyed the football at the end of the day, which is something i haven’t done in say the last 5 years (with the exception of 11/5/13) where turning up at the DW felt more like a chore than a pleasure.

You are a proper sadist if you’ve enjoyed most of the football in games this season.

It’s only recently we’ve been getting it more right than wrong, which I suppose is what I expected pre-season. We should storm this now.

Perhaps the board is quiet because people looking for genuine debate have given up and left it to those who just want to argue and abuse ….. just a thought like

It is not so much enjoying the football we play, which at times is turgid and unattractive and plain boring to watch but more the attitudes of players who in most games will play for ninety minutes, bust a gut, not strut around like Billy Big Bollocks. There is also the feeling of enjoying winning games that we have not experienced much for many years (apart from Roslers nice run and Bobbys end of season turnaround). The players have also gained an affinity with the fans and there is altogether a more confident atmosphere around the place.

They are always lurking in the shadows though! ;)

But that is the problem tez. Supporters like yourself expect us to storm this league, which we have no right to do.
I agree that at times the football can be tedious – it is sometimes what you get with football. But, TBH i much prefer caldwells kind of football as opposed to that served up under coyle & mckay.
Donny, you are spot on with what you say about the players busting a gut. I have not seen a wigan team do this since IMO jewell’s days & i think it is this what i am enjoying more than the actual football itself. & i believe that this team do exactly that as opposed to the jonny big bollox we have had recently at this club. As i said in my previous post, this to me is like watching wigan the way i used to.

I think you need to read my post again. The season is going pretty much how I expected it to and from now on there is no reason why we shouldn’t storm this league, now we’ve got our tactics and first team squad pretty much sorted.

I also stick by my point that a lot of the football up to now has been turgid on a lot of occasions, to say I’ve enjoyed it would be me lying. I can’t fault, on most occasions, the players efforts but I am a football lover not particularly an effort lover.

Any road it should be enjoyable, in the main, from here on in.

In a predominantly results orientated business, what do people see as being “exciting football”?

I’m bored watching most football games nowadays TBH so 3 points is my main concern. I’d rather say the game was crap but we won compared with enjoying a defeat.
