This was taken around 1976/77 I believe. The lad 2nd from the right on the Front row is Keith Braithwaite. He now lives in New Zealand. I work with his sister and she brought this in today for me to see. Keith played for Latics for a few seasons before moving to Northwich and then Marine before he moved to New Zealand.Top left at the end is Jeff Wright and I think its Gilli on the end next to Keith bottom right. I think the Manager is the late Brian Tiler.
One that amazed me though was front left on the end. Darryl Baines. He was in the year below me at the Deanery. I’d no idea he played for Latics. :oops:

Gett,n lump int throat seeing Ian Gillibrand again. And we were playing in blue shirts not stripes. Oh those were the days my friend.

Remember this team from my youth….Legends! Kenny Banks, Jeff Wright, Kenny Morris, Jonny King, Jonny Rogers, Gilly, Dennis Reeves, Micky Worswick and Brian Tiler are all I can name without cheating or further research! Great pic.
Not sure who the bearded lad is at the back tl4e but it isn’t Eric Makin …. blond haired with a ‘tache….I knew him reasonably well as he was my form prefect !

How many of tomorrow’s side will anyone remember in another 40 years time. Hopefully the young lads of today will do and will have had the same fantastic memories of the wonderful Latics as what us silly old farts have.
