Lacking in experience is known by us all, but that can be put to one side. Just focusing on his managerial ability, has he improved Wigan Athletic since last season? The answer to that is a resounding no, but are you impressed by him? Does his comments of bringing Kapo and King into the team build your confidence? Are you satisfied that he says he is happy with our current squad? Can he achieve the absolute minimum with us this year, just keep us up? The guy doesnt fill me with confidence and rather than looking to Martinez for inspiration, I look to Burnley, Hull, Wolves, Noblot, Birmingham, Stoke and Portsmouth. Thankfully, those teams will decide if we stay up so were not totally relying on Martinez.

Whickers World, that brings back some memories. That was one of my favourite programmes in my formative years.

Martinez should get the time he needs as swapping managers all the time doesnt work… I do like him saying he’s happy with the squad because that means he thinks it is good enough and the players must just need to adapt (Bar jordi gomez – very disappointed) … And if Martinez thinks Kapo and King can do a job then good…and if they do its a good mover for wigan… stop moaning and let us get on with the season…pr1ckIm a bit too young for Whickers whatever but….

Give him time. Christ! What do u expect Martinez to say about our squad? That we have no chance of staying up? Visiting arsenal is always dodgy after a couple of losses, someone was going to take a beating and it was us. Did u expect anything else? I agree with one thing and that is the one striker, I would atleast have someone playing off him, because gomez doesn’t drop deep for the ball or join up with Hugo. Wouldn’t mind seeing koumas behind Hugo with Sinclair starting other than that I think 442. The best managers in the world at their clubs needed time, eg sir alex. Come on we have a great young manager who wants to get us playing football were in a good position. Least megson isn’t our manager.
I AM behind Martinez. Definitely. I have to make that clear.
But in all honesty, I don’t know if we will survive this season. Frankly, I’m not that bothered if we don’t. At least we’d have something to play for (again) and would pocket the 20 million parachute payment in the process.
My gut feeling is that we will go down, as I just think the squad is lacking in good enough quality, and leadership. But I can accept that. If we do, it is because we are not good enough. Simple.All this ‘how long do we give Martinez’ crap, makes my blood boil, though.

Doesn’t matter. Still same players, as window has shut, and still no actual money to buy players with.
I’m starting to feel sorry for Roberto. He came back here, largely because of his feeling and respect for Whelan, and then has to scrimp a side together, to compete with clubs who have £100 million+ teams. Damage limitation? Yes, in a lot of games, including next Saturday, that’s the name of our game, I’m afraid.
I think some people STILL cannot digest the financial position of our club. I only wish they would.
