Billy Sharp is just the sort of player we need. To opt to play a match some 3 days after the death of his baby son was something that put many things into perspective.
Doesn’t necessarily make him any good at this level though, does it?
But should Bob sign him you will give Bob your full backing for the decision ? Just how do you become a striker in the Prem ? Do you have to be promoted with your team ? Come through the youth ranks of a Prem club ? Maybe move here from a club abroad that is the equivalent of say Charlton Athletic ? Where did all the strikers ever come from !!
I don’t know whether he’d be any good or not. What I do know, and this is what you suggested, is that the fact that he bravely played a game shortly after his son’s death won’t have any bearing whatsoever on how he would fare in the Premier League.
What I meant was he is mentally strong and also obviously fairly loyal to the cause ! Take Zaki for instance or was it Camara ? Or both ! Did they not go AWOL due to the death of a Grand Parent ? The slightest thing seems to upset many of these joy boy immigrants whereas Billy Smart in my opinion showed some courage and loyalty !
My dad’s loyal and mentally strong – and not a joy boy immigrant to boot – but I wouldn’t give him a go playing up front for Latics
