just watched the game on football first. i was chuffed to bits with the way hugo and zog went over to martinez after they had both scored. seems to me anyroad, they do want to play for the manager afterall.
19 April 2011 at 2:11 pm #63771what i was going to say next is that its a shame both might be off come the summer. however, as other posts have said, lets snap up cleverley immediately – where he will get a game here every week as opposed to being at UTD.

Was it one of our more vocal regular posters?

You don’t mean the one who has been lurking but unusually not posting not even on the substitute thread
20 April 2011 at 1:52 am #63805Quite possibly it’s that poster I’m thinking of.
20 April 2011 at 1:53 am #63806I actually doubted for a long time that this bunch of players wanted to play for Martinez but maybe now certain players have left perhaps there is more unity.
No names, no pack drill but one of them might start in P and end in aul Scharner.
Just a thought like.
20 April 2011 at 2:13 am #63807A while back on here I recounted a tale where on holiday I’d met a lad called Scott Vernon – who is currently playing for Aberdeen, but played under Ian Dowie at Oldham.
He said that Ian Dowie was the best coach and manager he’d ever played under, but was only successful with teams who played the ‘Ian Dowie way’. In lower leagues and with young players it wasn’t a problem as his team would do exactly as he instructed and it nearly always worked, but as in the Premier League there were always big egos and players who thought they knew better, his methods rarely worked and usually resulted in him getting the sack.
I wondered if this was the case when Martinez took over, and the only one I could think of who might be the ‘ego who knew better’ was Paul Scharner. He’s certainly never been shy at coming forward (vocally and on the pitch) has he? He’s even managed to blag his way into the WBA midfield.
