You could also look at it in terms of that Bobby thinks that some of these youngsters are good enough & ready enough to take a punt on & he’s giving them pre-season to prove that to him
I have no doubt that 3 faces will arrive before transfer deadline day & in all likelihood before the season starts (1 is strongly rumoured to be signing tomorrow which immediately is at odds with what he says in that interview). Even if they don’t Bobby could put out a side on august 14th which IMO could do a job (Kirkland, Boyce, Alcaraz, Gohouri, Figueroa, Diame, McCarthy, Watson, Rodallega, N’Zogbia & Boselli) & still have more than enough subs (Al-Habsi, Thomas, Gomez, Scotland, Moses, McArthur, Amaya + the youngsters)
Whilst I don’t particularly have a great deal of confidence in Bobby’s abilities you have to put some sort of faith in a manager in relation to his signings & trying out of young players. His judgement is either good enough or it isn’t.
If the likes of Rodallega, N’Zogbia and/or Figueroa are sold then i think we can take it as red that needing “3 more players” would change instantly
Anyway, its too bright out here – I’m going back to the darkside. In my opinion I think 3 more players is too low a figure & should be nearer 5 (right back, left back, right winger, left winger & a centre forward) as this would give us the 2 players challenging for every position. If Bobby thinks some of his younger lads can fill these positions then let him be proved wrong or right over the coming weeks
Alright getting 3.5 million and the wages down. Nice chunk towards the Jersey hotel and youth club, eh?
More like a nice chunk to repay the debt. Just because the money isnt splashed on a player in front of the public eye doesnt mean its going in Dave’s back pocket.

If Whelan stuck his shoe under your chin, you’d lick it shiny. :D

What a lame response. Next you’l be trying find spelling mistakes won’t you.
You sound like a JCL who can’t quite grasp why we can’t compete with the big boys. (and no im not arsed that you probably went to Wigan v some non league minnow in 1970 or whatever else.)
Seven weeks untill the end of the window vat calm down and take your tablets
I’ll remind you of that when you are bemoaning us getting a tonking, in a few weeks time. :)
3 weeks to start of season, and Martinez has said he’ll see how the youngsters do, before he thinks about buying any more players, and if we do, it’ll be late in the window.
I.E. freebies or rubbish that other teams won’t touch.[/quote]
Congratuilations Vat, you win the Prize for the first, I told you so preperation email of the new season. So when it all goes wrong then you can say I told you so..
a mate of mine works at arley hall(wigan golf club),he was told by a director of the latics that bramble had a fall out with jonsey after the spurs game, said he was getting to big for his boots and that he would never play for wigan again once back from injury.just hope the post is right when it says 5 mill,be happy with that :D

No, just 25 years for me, actually.
It’s not about competing with the big-boys, as you put it. The way things are going, we’ll struggle to compete with the Blackpool’s.
Personally, I thought the Brenda line was quite funny. You obviously saw fit to defend Father Jack.
Are YOU father Jack, then? If so, you stingy old coot, either tip some cash up for Martinez, or find someone else who will. Not talking daft money, say 5 million or so, including the Bramble money. Should be alright for us to get a replacement.
