Fear of change has been the downfall of many a great team.
Ferguson cutting ties with players apparently at the top of their game and replacing them with youth with plenty to prove is why Utd have been title contenders for the best part of two decades.
Last seasons performances were not acceptable so it’s great to see Martinez has the balls to stamp his authority on the squad.
21 July 2010 at 9:36 pm #40748In the past year we have removed the following from the wage bill..
Scharner (25-30k a week?)
Bramble (40k a week?) (…more than likely)
Kapo (20k a week?)
King (20k a week?)
Melchiot (30-40k a week?)Considering how average most of those are, we’ve done well to get reduce the wage bill that much.
And in the main we’ve replaced them with young & hungry younger players like McCarthy, Moses, Diame & McCarthur.
Get a couple of new defenders in and were in a much better better position both with our squad and with the wage bill compared to last season.

Sky Sports claim that the fee is £750k rising to £1m.
Seems strange if you ask me but Bramble must be on a fair whack so will free up some room in the wage budget nonetheless.

21 July 2010 at 10:14 pm #40759According to some people north of the border, McArthur is better than McCarthy:
“Personally I always thought he was better than McCarthy.”
“Agreed with RiG, i always thought he provided more as an all round midfielder as opposed to McCarthy, having both players in a team would be excellent for any club.”

Australia bowled out for 88 sky sports news21 July 2010 at 11:35 pm #40770The way things are going, we’ll struggle to compete with the Blackpool’s.
Having Boselli, N’Zogbia, Hugo, Diame , McCarthy & Moses suggests otherwise. To me anyway.
Put it this way, our offensive line up is better than last season. Our defence (surely) cannot be worse than last season.[/quote]
You would be right, but the transfer window is still open. Wether we have Hugo and Charles is anyones guess
