Setanta are saying that Everton have told them that Whelan wants £20 million for him.
The reason being that he has seen plenty of clubs pay this for lesser players….. oh I hope that is true.

What he said was that he has seen worse players sold for 20-30mil this year (henderson?carroll?) but never actually said thats how much we want for him and i dont think we will get that much cause he’s in his last year. 15mil would be good :)
Everton couldnt afford £20 at the moment… We should be looking into Europe, make sure whoever buys him cant inflict damage on us with him.
You’ll be lucky to get £6 million for him. The clubs that can afford him and his excessive wage demands aren’t desperate to pay silly money right now.
You’d be better off hanging onto him until January and take stock. If you are looking safe, then get whatever you can for him. However, if you are down the wrong end then keep him for the season and maybe he’ll single-handedly keep you up again – well worth losing him on a free if thats the case.

What a journey!And before this thread gets moved to the non footy forum, any ideas how the money from last weekends chubster game in the smoke was shared out…let me think ….4,423 x £8.50, that’s £37,595.50 shared between 40 players, plus back room staff, don’t forget the “ofseed ref” and 2 linesmen, coach travel down, 114 meat and potato pies [with gravy], 36 copies of the beano, 2136 meters of sticking plaster, 2 kilos of that white stuff [ ;) ], and 6 snakes and ladders boards.
That’ll be yip, £24.68 per chubbie!! :drool:
Don’t try and take the pish about our £6m players numpty!! :shhh:

…. you have no stadium of your own unless you count the rugby ground you stole! :shock: (notice i said rugby has there game is known has rugby unlike your game of rugby league) and you pay rent to your more INTERNATIONALLY known neighbours and you start complaining one of our players is worth only 6 million! :lol: :lol: :lol:has it ever been confirmed anywhere that the DW Stadium is now owned by Wigan Athletic as opposed to being owned by Whelco who happen to be owned by the same guy as Latics??
Whelan may well have talked about transferring ownership of it to Latics but what he says & what he ends up doing can be 2 completely different things, and as far as I am aware nothing has ever been confirmed that Latics own the stadium
If that’s the case then Latics will still be paying rent to Whelco just like our chubbie friends – being owned by the same person as the company who own the ground is completely different to Latics owning the ground
