Take away the likes of Aguero, Silva, De Bryune, Hazard, De Gea, Pogba, Salah, Mane, Firminio, Eriksen, Van Dijk.
No one wants to take away the above players, just limit the amount that clubs are allowed to play in a match.
And you think all those players would hang around to sit on the bench?
Robles
Boyce
Scharner
Alcaraz
Espinoza
Kone
GomezWho do you drop from that? And that isn’t including McArthur, McCarthy or Maloney.
19 November 2018 at 12:16 am #173115Excellent point Horc but to make that even more workable clubs should be limited to three overseas players per squad.
Now that would make sense and be a solution to a major problem within our game. Do you fancy a job at UEFA or FIFA. No…………….I thought not, you’re not corrupt enough.
It’s a massive problem in the game and the major contributor to why England have failed so miserably time after time.
So why did England fail so miserably when there weren’t overseas players in club squads?

Most of them would be playing in their own countries and we would have English players playing in our sides again.19 November 2018 at 12:29 am #173117Exactly Goole.
And come on Donny. Who would you drop from our FA Cup XI that had ONE English player in it.

Robles, Alcaraz, Espinosa, Scharner and Kone are great examples of players who were no better than English or British counterparts, just cheaper options, and to be honest would not replace any of the players in their positions in our present squad.
Boyce and Gomez were a different class though, and would probably get into any squad we have ever had.
As for the Scottih lads, they are British, so would be allowed in the squads anyway.19 November 2018 at 12:47 am #173119How do Scottish lads help England?
Paul Scharner is definitely better than Chey Dunkley or Cedric Kipre and Antolin Alcaraz is better than them 3 and Dan Burn.
19 November 2018 at 12:56 am #173120And you’ll be the first to moan when we lose a game because we’re missing 2 or 3 players or when we get relegated because we are getting stuffed every week as we can only play English lads.
There is no reason why homegrown players can’t be as good if they get the chance and if the coaching etc is good enough.
They haven’t been for the past 50 years.

And how long do we last in the prem possibly without:
De Zeeuw
Boyce
Al Habsi
Palacios
Valencia
Zaki
N’Zogbia
Figueroa
Melchiot
Rodallega

We beat a far stronger Man City team in last seasons FA Cup with English players in the positions of some the ones you mentioned earlier.
2013 – Robles
2017 – Walton2013 – Espinosa
2017 – Jacobs2013 – Alcaraz
2017 – Burn2013 – Scharner
2017 – Powell2013 – Kone
2017 – Grigg19 November 2018 at 1:33 am #173124You do know that none of those players played for us then and Grigg would be as useful to the England side as Kone would.
19 November 2018 at 1:36 am #173125If a team has three or more England internationals picked for a game, then okay, that club should be able to postpone a game.
Postponing games because foreign nationals are picked for their country should not be permitted. Squads are big enough these days, and if it had an impact on teams being below par, it might just make them put more effort into producing English players instead of buying all all the foreign players.I seem to recall Latics calling a game off last season after their 3rd choice goalkeeper had been picked for Wales U21s.

Thats a different situation. That none English FA Cup winning side was a side playing within the rules of then and now. The three overseas players per squad is a totally hypothetical idea which could be brought in in the future to bring on English football. Totally unrelated to any side we have now or in the past. Its not unreasnable to want to limit clubs to how many overseas players they have I dont think. Loan players too in and outcould also be limited to that same number.

I know and totally wrong. Not sure but that may have been the one to give the squad a break where some players had an early season holiday.19 November 2018 at 1:46 am #173128If a team has three or more England internationals picked for a game, then okay, that club should be able to postpone a game.
