According to League Express, IL could be about to sell
Wigan to Mike Danson for £10 million. From Wigan Warrions Site:
https://www.wiganwarriorsfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=39478&start=201–Have to agree the stadium is a money pit. To keep maintain and bring up to standard would be pumping money into a white elephant.
Was built on the cheap wrong land and that can’t ever be rectified .2–Problem is in truth the ground is too big for both teams.
3 –In some respects, elite training facilities, community work, academy/reserve grade (in the future, obviously), Education, Hospitality and so on, the investment in Robin Park is becoming a ‘gold chest’.
This together with the future sale of the Orrell set-up and the Central Park facility(?) will at the same time add to the Club’s financial performance in the seasons ahead.
Sympathy to Latics though for their predicament, anyone know how the situation is regarding a takeover ?
4–I doubt Wigan Council would ever grant permission to build another stadia when we have one.
As soul-less as it is, if we buy and modify it, we could finally call it home.8 February 2021 at 6:49 am #190827I have a feeling Danson will take over both codes and bring the ground up to scratch, make it workable.
Let’s face it, I’ve been to worse grounds. Both codes are salary capped so no stupid overpaid players coming in. And, if your networth is £1.1billion £50million rectify it all is a drop in the ocean. As they say You can’t take it with you.
In the terms of what a billion is in comparison to a million:
A million seconds is 12 days. A billion seconds is 31 years.
Fightening8 February 2021 at 11:43 am #190830Danson has no interest in buying Latics apparently.
As a football fan from Wigan he is undoubtedly a Utd or Liverpool fan and wouldn’t give two hoots about us.
13 February 2021 at 11:53 pm #190870He’s a football fan, you don’t have to be a fan of the club to buy it.
If he has any interest in buying a club why not buy a club that’s from your home town, with a ground and little debt for a few million.
Or spend every penny of your 1.1billion and buy Utd cause your a Utd fan.
He could put in £20 to £30million with no chance of ever getting it back
And still have £1.97million left while having a bit of fun along the way. Same box and you can’t take it with you.14 February 2021 at 8:30 am #190872He can’t take it with him, well he could, but he can provide for his family rather than leave them with a loss making business. That js why Whelan sold and I presume why his family haven’t come to our rescue.
Danson won’t buy the club so let’s just move on.
15 February 2021 at 3:08 pm #190889@442 provide for his family ?, do you know how much a billion is compared to a million ??.
A million seconds is 12 days
A billion seconds is 31 years,
In monetary terms that much money can destroy you just as easy as having non. Im at an age were if I won the Euro lottery this week about 1/8th of the wealth Mr Danson has I woul put £30million aside and put us right.
He has enough money to buy a small country nevermind provide for others, don’t worry they’ll have ample.15 February 2021 at 4:54 pm #190891All good points. He still isn’t buying us.
15 February 2021 at 5:24 pm #190892With you on this egg
