16 December 2016 at 5:07 pm #153206Bobby won the cup brilliantly with the most un Bob like formation and performance. Espinoza on one flank and Macca on the other tore City apart in the first half and they simply didn’t have the answer. It has to go down as one of the most complete performances ever by the Latics. I’ll never tire of watching the game over and over. Greatest day of my life still get goosebumps thinking about it.
It was exactly the same formation used for most of the season!
The difference was the players were fired up for the game more so than they seemed to be for a rest of the season.
16 December 2016 at 5:14 pm #153207And here’s me thinking Bobby never had a plan ‘B’.
This is a revelation.16 December 2016 at 5:29 pm #153208Bobby won the cup brilliantly with the most un Bob like formation and performance. What rubbish, we played totally different in that match and the previous matches against Millwall, Everton and Huddersfield. It was like another manager had come in and given the team talk.
The players will have been fired up, of course they would, but the attacking way we played in those matches was so much different from what we had seen all season.
If Bob had put his mind to it, and forgot about his boring tippy tappy, secure the point you already have tactics a bit earlier in each of the seasons we struggled under him, we would have had a more successful PL life, and would probably have stayed up. Afterall, if you can beat Man City in the Cup Final there was certainley no need to fear anyone else.16 December 2016 at 5:57 pm #153209Bobby won the cup brilliantly with the most un Bob like formation and performance. Read what I’ve written.‘It was exactly the same formation used for most of the season!’
ie. 3-4-3
Definitely not ‘un Bob like’.

16 December 2016 at 9:07 pm #153216Ally, Paul I wouldn’t bother these lovers of all thing Bobby are the new Darksiders!!
Nuneaton as well you are banging your head against a wall with your positive ideas. The new Darksiders will always knock you back with their negative ideas of one up top tedium that just keeps failing us.16 December 2016 at 9:58 pm #153217Ally, Paul I wouldn’t bother these lovers of all thing Bobby are the new Darksiders!!

Nuneaton said we played a different formation. We didn’t. It was exactly the same.
The way the players went about it was different, but the formation was the exact same one that we’d been using all season.

To be fair, there has been the odd occasion over the last few years where you have defended Roberto.
Anyway, lets not all argue and fall out, after Wednesdays performance I am filled with renewed optimism for the rest of the season, and for once I am actually looking forward to tomorrows game.
Our season starts tomorrow, 2-0 to the Tics.16 December 2016 at 10:54 pm #153219Almost A Coppull Mon Walker I am pulling your leg. Having a laugh. Lighten up, we all love the Latics and it’s always the same when times are bad folk on here do nowt but Argy bargy. Sorry if some of the bollocks I talk is not what you like at times but it is bollocks, sometimes brought on by frustration. I should take it out on are Maude or the dog but I am not brave enough so it’s easier to spout crap on here.
You yourself came out with the most sensible post of any last season when you said something about uping tempo. Gary must have read the post cos we did and went on to win the league and how much better did we all feel seeing a few wins. I sincerely hope Joycey will start having some success and will be backing the lads whatever style we play and I know must other real fans like yourself will be too.
Everything gets a bit tit for tat and there’s enough frustration without the fans all falling out. Many times it’s just about the way one person puts over a point ie irony, sarcasm and there’s an element of smugness too with some posters. Some of us may write something but it is just the way it comes over in text format that can make it sound like something else.
Well here’s hoping for two up top tomorrow. (Only joking)18 December 2016 at 5:19 am #153239Almost A Coppull Mon Walker I am pulling your leg. Having a laugh. I’m actually a Springfielder, but moved to Standish 20 years ago.
