That game saw the best tup I’ve ever seen on a football pitch. Administered by our ex player and assistant manager Graeme Jones.
He was trudging towards the tunnel having just been red carded when one of their players must have said something to him and boooshak!Yes. I know. On the video you can see me trying to keep the benches apart (and failing miserably of course).
At the end of the game we escorted Lynchy off and I suggested we hang back a short while to let the tunnel clear. He agreed profusely. It was very rare for us to have a police officer join the escort, but that night we did.
After the game I was posted outside the ref’s room with orders to allow nobody but the assessor in (and he was in like a shot!).
About 5 times Ian Holloway came along the corridor saying “I just want a quick word with the ref”.
